i have sufferred from it my whole life, even as a toddler. i have thalamassemia minor/mediterranean anemis. perhaps you could run tests for this.

having the vertigo, i highly recommend constant monitering of your blood counts. i actually went down to a 6.0 hemoglobin 2 months into tx.

good luck & take care.

I'd like to second Scruffy's point about BP.  Mine has dropped significantly since starting tx and I have to be careful about standing up too quickly.  Can make me dizzy.

I kinda had those sx's for a while. When I took my BP it was 65/40. I stopped taking my BP meds for while then adjusted the dose after it went back up. I was really anemic back then.

Give your BP a check when you feel like that. just saying.

Hi Dee,

I'm so sorry to hear about the vertigo. I agree with Lisa, it's likely a SFX of the Ribavirin or Tx in general. My hepa told me it was secondary to the anemia. I had it BAD! It got so severe that I had to get out of my chair and/or bed on my hands and knees. I can't count how many times I fell or how many times I got up without thinking, made a few steps and the world started spinning wildly. I would find myself on my knees, holding onto the ground begging it to stop spinning. Sometimes with and without nausea. I could get seasick just walking during those spells! The good thing is, it goes away in time and if you're anything similar to me, it will improve or worsen according to your "anemic scale" (my term, not their's). Just be cautious, use a cane if you must, I did and it helped my balance greatly. Good luck!

Hi Dee,

I think its the Ribaviren probably, I have sea-sick feeling already, I have only been on it two weeks. I hope it will subside when you have completed therapy....with 5 days to go, I'd finish the course and see what happens. Otherwise sleep in an armchair until you have?

Anyone on Sovaldi and Ribavarin experience vertigo? I'm 5 days away from treatment completion and was recently hospitalized because all of a sudden I went to lay down and the room spun badly. Was fine sitting. Felt a little dizzy standing but really bad when laying drown. They put me on medication and said it's vertigo? I find it strange toI that in the time I'm on treatment getting diagnosed with both tachycardia and now vertigo? Any input?

Hi Annie thanks so much for all your encouragment. I'm so sorry to hear of your eye & back probs. Just hope & pray that time will be the best healer for you. I think we must all feel like we've been "doing time" with the tx so now hopefully it wont seem so bad  for you without the meds.
Take care

Hi Lesley, Great news to hear that you are UNDETECTABLE! Congratulations! And for getting more than half-way through. I discovered the pleasures of online shopping while on tx, and especially enjoyed bidding on e-bay, all the excitement of gambling, though I did restrict myself mostly to bids of 1 euro!  I hope you are now getting over the chest infection, and that someone else will be cooking the Christmas dinner this year. Take good care of yourself,
Love Annie xxxxx

Hi Annie & Gin & all
Sorry not been on for a while but had a chest infection which knocked me back a bit.
I recieved my 6 week results & had achieved E.V.R. which was marvellous news. I now am waiting until the 16th for my 12 week results. God willing it will still  be negative.
Gin, you can get tabs from your gp for the vertigo but in my case they dont help. But it's certainly worth a try. So good luck with that.
Cant believe I am over half way thru my Tx The days drag by whilst being so listless & tired & yet the weeks are flying by.
Having to do most of my Christmas shopping online this year as cant get out so much with the vertigo so I think it will be a quiet one this year. I guess just myself hubby & mum. Usually there are at least 12 to dinner so this will be a nice relaxing time for us. Although I still must see the grandchildren it wouldn't be the same without them.
So keep on truckin with the Tx folks & best wishes for good results.wink
Lun'n stuff
Lesley xx

Hi Lesley and Gin, Sorry you are both getting the vertigo, but as the others say, it's par for the course, and all you can do is lie down, and avoid situations where it might be dangerous. Mine seemed to be directly related to the drop in red blood cells. I still can't drive yet more than 3 weeks post tx, but do not feel so dizzy now. Forget the housework! Have you got your test result yet, Lesley?
Take care of yourselves, Love Annie xxxxx

Hi Lesley,
I suffered dreadfully from vertigo on tx - the only thing to do is lie down - tabs probably wont help.  I hope it eases off for you soon.  Congratulations on your tests.

I also have vertigo.  Sometimes it comes on so suddenly I almost fall down.  This has all started since treatment. I found it is worse if I am doing to much such as walking from my car inside carring groceries then it comes on strong!

Gidday Lesley,

The ol' virtigo unfortunately is part and parcel with tx and there's no point in trying to fight it.  As you know you only end up tottering over on your head if you overdo it - it really is one sx that forces you to listen to your body.

Housework, yardwork, hell, any bloody physical work at all takes a bit of a holiday while on tx, boy have I got some things to catch up to by the time 72 weeks comes around.....don't really want to think about thatbored.gif

That's good to hear about the livers all being down, good luck with those other ones coming up thumbsup.gif

Cheers,

Brendan.

Hi Annie thanks for your reply. My dr has mentioned menieres disease as the cause of the vertigo. But it is really much worse on tx. I feel so lazy lying down all the time I can write my name in the dust  the ironing's nearly at the ceiling & poor hubby more often has to cook his own meals when i've been doin nothing.Still this is a means to an end & I'm quarter of the way through it now, thank goodness.
My blood results will be thru in 3 weeks to see if I have a e.v.r. fingers xed. liver function tests are right down which is very good, so just have to keep on truckin.

Enough of me how are you keeping?   Hope you're well

Lots luv'n hugs Lesley xxx

Hi Lesley, I really sympathise with you, and have the same sx. I had mild vertigo pre-tx, and it has got much worse on tx. Also the sea-sickness feeling (though no vomiting), loss of balance, falling over and fainting. In my case I know it is due to the HepC and/or tx drugs, as I am not using any other meds, and don't have any other known health problems that would cause this. I have been able to do very little on tx, including not driving for the last year due to these sx. Just staying lying down seems the only way to cope with it, and it does get less sometimes, so I hope you have lots of good books to read and other distractions to keep you amused.
Bon Courage!
Love Annie xxxxx

Lesley, I have put up with light vertigo for years. It was definitely worse during Tx. I always blamed the fact that I've dealt with a Pituitary prolactinoma ( tumor on my pituitary gland) and the medicine involved for the "dizziness, feeling flush, and upset stomach". Between that tumor and one on my adrenal gland I take some fairly strong meds. Toss in the psych drugs for the PTSD and I think I'm lucky to be able to spit and have it hit the ground. But to answer your question; yes. -Mike

Hi All,
was  wondering if anybody actually suffered from vertigo before  starting Tx?
I have and it seems to be gradually getting worse as tx goes on.
My sinuses & face are constantly freezing can't get warm & the dizziness is like seasickness  with occasional vomitting. Dr changed my tabs but still no joy.
Feel sorry for hubby cos he's having to do everything as well as put up with my moping about as soon as I start to do owt I have to ly back down again.
Sorry to go on but would be interested to know about anyone else with these sx. My nurse says this is not of the most common sx.
Thankyou everyone for your interest
luv'n stuff lesley xxyawn
