Hi Keith and a warm welcome to the forum.

We are not a medical forum so we can't offer you any medical advice.  I do hope you get some explanations soon.

I would suggest that if it gets worse, then continue to see your GP or seek medical advice from your hospital.

Best wishes.
Hugs

Gidday Keith,

I managed the path unit in a major city hospital and those tests, particularly after three rounds are spot on.  There are several other causes of the symptoms you suffer from and I must say they don't ring like hepC.  Seems more immune sytem related - talk to a decent specialist and get some good advice.

Sorry we can't be of a lot of help here mate, but we're not a free diagnostic clinic, we offer support to HepC sufferers and people on tx.

Cheers,

Brendan.

Hi Keith,  I have to second the advice to consult with a Doctor.  Your symptoms seem similiar to mine, but liver problems can come from other things besides Hep C and there are other diseases that can mimic those side effects as well.  Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, a very common practice for me, and you've already met with a Doc, but a complete workup by a specialist should be able to answer many of your questions and help you feel better about the future.  Take care, tysmile

Hi Keith,

Probably best to let your Doc diagnose you. Your original question was. How accurate are the tests.
I did some quick research and the answer is 99%.

Good luck,

James

Keith,

Hep C is asymptomatic unless you have pretty heavy liver damage. After 3 tests that are 99% accurate I seriously doubt you have hep c.

Gidday Keith,

Welcome to the Forum, I hope we can help you out here, but first of all you will have to give us some idea of what test you are talking about.  If the test you are talking about is a home test kit, they are not reliable at all, and you need to get tested by a laboratory so the chain from you to the results can be controlled.  Now I have some experience in the field of laboratory testing, and the normal procedure is that an antibody test is the first conducted, this will normally come back with a result of either positive or negative.  An antibody test is very reliable if conducted by a recognised laboratory or institution, and if you've been tested 3 times by the same lab. for antibody, it might be pertinent to look at another aetiology for your symptoms.

What sort of symptoms are you experiencing that you attribute to HepC ?  Have you been being looked after by a doctor over this 3 year period that you have been having problems ?

Sorry, can't be any more helpful than this at this stage until you can supply a little more information, so I hope to hear from you soon.  In the mean time I hope you are well asnd looking after yourself.

Cheers,

Brendan.

what kind of test ?  Anti Body test, or Viral load test. I would think after 3 negatives of either you don't have Hep C.  Hep C is pretty much asymptomatic  unless your liver is pretty messed up it's doubtful you feel any symptoms from Hep C.

99% accurate
