yes mallani, i know...

I try to tell that no need to worry about 4th week results anymore it can be UND or 1000, this doesnt mean that you are going to live with hepc all life... more effective medicines, cures are coming soon, science is coming to end about hep c treatment. It will become simply treatable disease in 2 or 3 years.

for ex. we have a young friend here i cant remember his name( he has a graduation photo at his profile pic. :) )... He is also young but had a unsuccesfull treatment before but then he tried new coming medicine GS-7977 and he was undetected at week 2!! and now he is running to SVR!!

Hi Murat, Worrying about SVR rates is unproductive. The latest rates from clinical experience have superseded rates shown in the trials. It is nice to have a rough idea, but everyone has to struggle on, hope for undetecteds, and take what we get. We are all different. You are young with a low VL, have your undetected, and have an excellent chance of SVR. That's all we can hope for.

No need to discuss Brad,

Todays sceintific solutions are very close to beat hep c with %100 successful cures.. or maybe vaccination protection will come in 5-10 years..

At this point even you are non-responder or untreated no matter.. maybe you have to stop treatment at 4th week no problem..

I don't know.

Perhaps that was a subset of patients like either previous non-reponders, or cirrhotic patients?  Those groups have lower SVR rates.

Anyway, no big deal.

You treat, you do your best, and you clear or you don't.  Then you live your life, and just do what you do ;))

Take care my friend,

Brad

3rd page, highlighted paragraph: http://i45.tinypic.com/17aemg.jpg

During phase 3 studies:
at week 4,, 4 of 16 patients (%25) who has hcv-rna between 100-1000 IU/ml achieves SVR

at week 12,, 2 of 8 patients (%25) who has hcv-rna between 100-1000 IU/ml achieves SVR

but again at same document, 29th page advanced study results are mentioned as yours...

 Hello Murat.

Where did you get that info? From what I can see it's 60%.

From the "Incivek Full Prescribing Information" site, page 17, here:

http://pi.vrtx.com/files/uspi_telaprevir.pdf

the SVR results for non RVR (not undetectable @ week 4) were 60%.

It works like this:

58% had eRVR (UND@ wk 4), and 92% of those had SVR, for a total of 53% SVR

42% had no eRVR, and 60% of those had SVR, for a total 25% SVR

Add the 53%, and the 25%, and you get Incivek's 78% oveall "cure" rate.

I only mention this, so those without an eRVR don't get discouraged.  Their chances are much better than 25%.

Please note that other factors, like cirrhosis, previous non-responder, etc, will skew these numbers up or down, but all the info is on the site mentionioned above.

Brad

During incivek(Telaprevir) studies:

%25 of patients could achieve SVR, who had HCV-RNA 100-1000 at week 4 or 12.

Unfortunately, no patient could achieve SVR, who had HCV-RNA >1000 at week 4.

my doctor says he hopes to see 2 log drop at week 4, meaning -00 from the end. My guess for ur husband if it was bad Dr would advise to discontinue tx, since he didnt I assume it goes well. Good luck

What about a 3 log drop but still 5000 at week 4?  I want to continue.

I too came back posittive after 4 wks. As a result the tx were extended from 24 to 36 weeks and the Ribirvarin increased from 800mg/day to 1200mg/day. My tests came back UND (Negitive) after 8 weeks.

This is a slow process and not everyone responds or reacts the same. We are in the hands of our keepers and I try to maintain that a positive attitude goes a long way in a cure.

Hang in there!

With the inconsistancies in the PCR test, some of us could actually be detectable but below the range of the test, because like mine, they only measured to <43.

I am assuming this test only detects a VL measurement as low as 43, so I could have a VL of 42, or 26, or 0, but nobody knows because the test I took doesn't go that low.

Just an observation.  I am not going to worry about it, though, because there is nothing I can do about it!  My doctor knows best, and he will tell me so when I question certain things he does!

No, not bad, good that he can keep going.  If VL is over 1000, you have to stop treatment.  Tell him I was @470 on day 27.  My Dr thinks I'll be fine.  See Deidre's post answering my ? about this last Saturday night.

I'm in for 48 weeks as long as I am under 1000 for my next blood work, which is on Nov 28.

It's all good.  My liver needed a break after all these years.  Even if I have to stop I know there will be other treatments coming soon that might help me.  I'm confident I'll be clear sooner or later.  And I've proven to myslf that I can do the treatment so far.  It ain't that bad.  For right now we're doing the one day at a time routine.

ps. tell Steve I'm going for a moosage tonight...lol
