Hi Steve,

    I'm sorry to hear that the sx are lingering on, mine did too.  I called my doctor and told him I needed AD's, an anti-itch pill and more sleeping pills and he said , "You do know you're over tx in one more week, right?" lol. 

The Atarax worked for the itching after two days, I decided without the itching I could survive the riba rage and I used the sleeping pills for one month post tx.  After about a month I was no longer on anything and have been slowly improving since.  It does take a bit longer than we wish, but it does happen.

     Hang in there buddy and this too will pass, tysmile

Hiya Steve.  Really hope that you are noticing some improvements, even if slight.  I think half the problem is that we are often led to believe that as soon as we finish tx, we will instantly begin to return to 'normal' and feel better.  That simply is not the case.  As Jill says, we all recover post-tx at different rates but that expectation put upon us to be feeling better as soon as we finish, only holds us back in my opinion.

I also think that the recovery can be subtle and sometimes you realise that you are no longer experiencing 'x' side effect/s any more...rather than just waking up one day suddenly feeling great.  Noticing the improvements (even small ones) can be motivating.

Be kind to yourself and hopefully you will be starting to see improvements.  Don't expect too much too soon and try not to beat yourself up.  After 48 weeks, it's only natural that it might take a little while.

Steve,

I really hoped that you would start feeling a little better by now, but I guess it's only been a week.  Even though you did your last shot 2 weeks ago, it's full blown effective for a week afterward.

Do you know why your stomach hurts?  Did it hurt before?

Even after tx, it seems we still count the weeks and wait.  It's just a matter of time!   UGH!

I just hope you wake up one morning really soon and realize you had a good nights sleep, your rash is gone, and you actually feel better than you have in a long time.  It will happen!

Oh dear Steve, hmm so sorry you`re feeling like that but bear in mind you were on very heavy duty meds for 48 weeks and your body really will take a while to recover from that onslaught.  I can`t say I had exactly the same sx as you have but I found it took literally weeks before I started picking up my energy, before I started sleeping properly, and before the rash finally cleared up. 

But it did happen in the end and I`m sure it will for you too!  Of course it`s different for eveyone, some people do recover more quickly than others, but personally I think it`s best to treat the first few post tx weeks as a time for convalescence and a time to be kind to yourself.

But of course if you`re worried about any of that stuff please do speak to your doc.

Man Steve,  I'm so sorry you're not starting to feel better yet. I suppose you already have tried the Sarna lotion or hydrocortisone for the rash,... but I want to see your long hair blowing back in the wind as you putt that cycle down the highway of life, sayin YA!!! I feel fookin greeat! !!

I can see that in my minds eye, and I wish this for you in a BIG way (well, maybe without the long hair) But dude...you deserve it, you fought the good fight and now it's time for the waiting game. Lets hope that wait is a short one, and your tummy will treat you well, and a rip-van-winkle sleep is just on the horizon...please.gif 

Any ginger chews? that kinda helps my stomach, (smoke a green one??) that'll help tummy, and for sleep.(I don't know if that's something you'd do) but  I'm here for you....   Blessings, Iris

Right, it's been 2 weeks since my last shot and 1 week since the final Riba's.

I feel much, much worse than before! The rash is getting unbearable, I type this at 4.30 am because I can't sleep, have not slept properly for a week and the pains in my stomach drive me crazy.

They never mentioned this at the Hospital, but reading some of the data here could mean I could be "ill" for quite a long time, could be up to 2 years before I feel tip-top?

Crumbs of comfort anyone?
