kellyw,  When I was doing neupogen shots at first,I did my pegs shot on Wed and the neopogen shot on monday  and Thurs.After 5 weeks of this I realized I was wasting my money on neupogen because the one I did on Monday that generated new immature white cells was wiped out on Wed. from the interferon and the one I did on Thurs was too close also to generate enough cells.I was going to a oncology office to track my blood counts but they never took the time to question me and really weren't that involved with the type of meds , it was basically a filling station. What made a difference was taking my peg shot Fri nite and getting neup shot on Monday.The WBC count moved up from 1.0 every week to around 2.0 and sometimes was able to even skip a week.Might help you and it can't hurt.

In general it affects your ability to fight infections, but it can also be reason for weakness due to fact that low lab values are in majority times are correlated. They will probably give u neuprogen shot to boost up WBC. Keep us posted

ah buggar seems to be a common thing. i got appt tomorrow, im gonna ask a heap of questions... my wbc is low, and neutrophytes (or something cant remember) are low too...

after tomorrow, hopefully i will have some answers...

good luck all. this stuff really busts in there ay... bloody hell

umm I am already at 2. somthing on my white blood cells (week 9 now). Just starting to do weekly bloodwork to keep an eye on it; they did mention maybe getting a shot if it goes lower? should I be worried?
Had a tooth pulled yesterday and immediately put on antibiotics because my white count was so low; dentist decided to wait on other needed surgeries (2) to fix root canal problems until after I am done with treatment and my white blood cell count is more back to normal.

I'm coming in late to your discussion but. I was put on neuprigen (sp) at 2.1 but think it had to do more with the monos etc ratio. It then went to 1.7 but distribution better and they just said hang in there use alot of antiseptic hand gel.... Also hope I'm ok with my shot timing as I do interferon on fri night and neuprigen on sat. 24 hrs I was told . Hope that is ok and not why my WBC have only risen .2 (1.9).

I have been at 1.5 to 2.0 bouncing back and forth for 14 weeks maybe? i just started my last week of tx , my dr said they dont take action until 1.0 wbc

Dude-- That was about normal for me a couple days after pegs shot. The point to look for as far as how able to fight off infections is how low is the anc or gran is generally if it goes below 500 you should be getting a neupogen shot or dropping down from on the interferon amt. I ran between 300 and 500 anc for about 4 months. Did the pegys on fri nite and got a neupogen shot on monday.I finished a few weeks ago and have been rising slowly the wbc and rbc.
It has no impact on how you feel, thats all given over to your hgb.Ask your Doc what he plans on doing about it if it continues to go lower.

Just got the results of the blood test that my doctor ordered when they "just wanted to check the results" of the last blood test.  The problem was my white cell count is low.  Today the results were told to me as "hanging in at 1.8".  Looking into this I see the count should be a minimum of 3.3, and that is the minimum.

Does this contribute to my weakness and lack of energy, or does it just affect my ability to fight infections?  Anybody have similar readings, and what did your doctor do about it?

I have a doctor appointment tomorrow, would like to know something about it before I go there confuse.
