Re: sleeping pills - I did get a rx for immovane and found it was super effective...so effective that I can chop the 7.5mg pill into 6 pieces and still fall sleep easier on one of those tiny pieces.

I find that trying to regulate your habits helps too...no TV/web after 8, quiet & super dark surroundings, and lots of slow deep breathing.

There's nothing like feeling completely exhausted and being unable to sleep.

I have had insomnia as well. My "pre" insomnia was to fall asleep and wake at 3 am and be up. Now I am wired til 2am. Some of it seems to also be an exaggeration of anything I am anxious about which then keeps me up even though I know it is not as epic as I am thinking. I do use lavender oil to try to take the edge off but that only works sometimes

I work days, part time. So this probably won't pertain to someone working a night shift.  One reason I do my best to get up in the morning at about 7 or 8 am and take a show and go outside for a walk is just to kick start myself into staying out of bed for the morning.  This makes me more tired at night and helps me get to sleep.  I admit, I can't always do this, but I try as much as I can to wake up early.  Once I take a shower (cold water to finish shower - burrrrr!  lol )  I seem to be awake for the day.

I have had insomnia since the first week. For me it is mostly the riba. Took atarax for the first three months but it stopped working much after a few weeks. Md put me on Ativan  end of Nov. It helps but i still can't go to sleep til late like 2 am 3am. But sleep til 9am or so on it. The riba makes me feel like I have taken a very strong stimulant. It is very unpleasant. I look forward to the day I get all these drugs out of my system and sleep normally. But for now I just take what I have to take to stay the course.

I had insomnia before starting treatment. Its rare to fall asleep before midnight and get a full nights sleep. Since starting treatment I had the best sleep Id had in years for the first 2 nights, and then the insomnia started up again.  I bought a heating pad as a little luxury and a small massage pad at Walgreens to see if that would relax me, feels great, but doesnt seem to help. Glad I bought them though still.

Hi.  This sounds like my life too.  I usually can't sleep until after 3am and even then I sometimes can't sleep.  My SX are not bad, just this insomnia.  I even had insomnia before TX so now it's worse.  I guess there are things to take to help us sleep.  If you want to give me a call in the AM, no prob.  I will probably be awake too.  I work part time on weekends. 415-410-6765  Paul

Hey guys, it's been my 4th (lead on) week of tx, and cant say that sx have been bad, except that I cant fall asleep until 5 am then can't get up untill 1-2pm felling crashed. It gives me feeling of wasted day. thankfully my work is 4pm-12am so I can afford that luxury. I was just wondering if anyone experiences the same and if insomnia will go away after tx. Thamk you

I did, mostly due to the fact I got really bad itching from the incivik every night around 3:30 AM, once I got up, I couldn't fall back asleep. I told my Dr and he gave me some mild sleeping pills. Try to take them as little as possible,  I got a script of 30 on 12/8 and and still have 17 left, but they did help me get a good nights sleep.
