I think you are exactly right.  I threatened him this morning with 'either water or hospital, the choice is yours".  He's been sipping water, and has drank more this morning, than most entire days.  That's good to know that water is the key.  He listens (albeit vicariously) to what people say here, so I will let him know that Alan is agreeing with me :)

Please try to convince him to drink more water. The skin gets a lot of its moisture from inside, and hydrating better will absolutely help. Whatever you have to do to get him to drink more should be done. If he will, get him to sip all during the day rather than drink gulps now and then. In all honesty, for my treatment, drinking water was the single most important deterrent to side effects. Better than all OTC remedies, better than the corticsteroid prescription, better than anything. Get that man a tall glass of water, and tell him Alan said "Drink it!".

Now that I've had some sleep I can be a little more rational. Yes, he is on Zyrtec and Attarax so I would hate to see how he felt without that. The dr (actually nurse practitioner) is very helpful, but tells us that we are their first patient on this so 'we're learning together'. Sometimes that doesn't inspire a lot of confidence! The rash looks no different this morning but isn't worse. He hates drinking water and I think he gets dehydrated which seems to make the rash worse. Today I'm pushing fluids and trying an oatmeal bath. Thanks for all your help and support.

Just keep in mind that it isn't because we know better than your doctor it is just that we respond better!  It really is frustrating. 

Is his doctor on call?  You can call his office number and he may have an after hours answering service that will contact him. 

He might be okay but I would err on the side of caution for a painful, entire body rash.

Is he taking any type of antihistimine for the itching/rash? Zyrtec is common and then prescription Atarax which is a really strong antihistimine given for itching and will also help him sleep. Zyrtec is OTC. I am sorry hs has this rash. I only had a mild one and it was a real pain. Md should be able to prescribe something. If not tell him you want a referral to a dermatologist who is familiar with Incevik rashes. Thre are many things  they can do to help him. Let us know how he is. Hugs!!!

Thanks for the help. I think we need to get in earlier than the Wednesday appointment too. I'm pushing fluids which seems to be helping. His rash is always worse after his shot , so I'm guessing that's a part of the issue. We're avoiding pain meds, just using ice. I've learned more here than from our dr., so I thought I would check here first!

If he has already tried topical and oral meds and has a burning rash over his entire body he should be seen by a doctor.  Also, pain meds are really tricky on this tx--some are not good for blood and others are not good for liver.  I wish I could give you another answer but this sounds like it really needs to be seen in person by a doc.

I know everyone struggles with this but has anyone found anything to help? He is so miserable. Rash has spread on entire body, and burns. We have tried creams (OTC) and some prescription, only Boudreaux's butt paste seems to help slightly but not with the pain. I'll try anything this weekend. He's determine to go all 12 weeks, but I'm praying we just get through this (almost done with week 8). Unfortunately our doctor is not much help. Any ideas is much appreciated.
