PS. You know what I think would be cool? Some blood tests to see what levels of drugs we had, like interferon, Incivek, Riba, etc. Wouldn't it be great to know our "absorbtion" was just right?

That would be very cool b/c one size is not going to fit all.  Sheesh...do we have to tell them how to do everything!!

Although I did labs at two weeks, and every two weeks since then, the two, six, ten, etc were just CBCs for blood levels. The four, eight, twelve, etc were the full works, with CBCs, viral load, thyroid, liver enzymes, etc. You may get a VL at two weeks, but it won't mean a whole lot. Unless it is already UND biggrin

Hi Pamigo:  I don't think most people have their viral loads tested at 2 weeks; most start testing at about 4 weeks.  They generally do more lab testing in the clinical trials.  Another positive is that they tend to pay closer attention to your sx and medical care in clinical trials; they are monitoring you closely.

I was tested in the 3rd week and my viral load had gone from apx 12 million to undetectable, so those are some powerful drugs.  I would expect you will get some idea of how they are working at two weeks.  Fingers crossed your viral load has dropped substantially by now.  But, as you know, the 4 week mark is really the barometer of how a person't viral load is responding, so don't be disheartended if it isn't as low as you hoped yet.

You are doing really well, Pamigo.  Your attitude is inspiring.  Hang in there!

HCV Team,

On 3rd week of Incivek Tx. Go to doc on Fri hopefully he will have the two week pcr results. As all of us know, I am playing the "what if" mind game and preping myself for lab results in either direction.....

I know it is very early in the game, but can any of my hcv/incivek brothers and sisters

1. relate any of their 2 week pcr results one way or another

2. How 2 week results related to the 4 week results

3. How 2 weeks results related to viral load, early responding and svr through out where they are in their treatment cycle.

Again, just playing the "what if" mind games with every lab tests. Any info would be great. I do understand the 4wks and 8wks are the "go, no go" standards..just have that kind of strange curiosity going on.

Geno 1a, 30 yrs, couple time tx non responder, VL ~ 6,000,000.

As a side note after a rough initial week or so, now doing pretty good on sx. But as you all know the "wave" can hit you at any time. and things can change often during tx.

PS.

Metamucil MiltiHealth Fiber (orange flavored) has helped me tremendously with the butt related issues. I take it once or twice a day a couple or 3 hours after the inciveks (not to absorb any of the meds). And believe it or not, the taste sort of grows on you. For all you "ole schoolers" its a lot like tang from yesteryear.

Best to everyone on this ride, it is a brother/sisterhood like nothing else.

Thanks guys,

Pamigo
