Wilson, I dont think 4 days will hijack your treatment. I hope the relief will be as swift and sure as mine was. I cant recall another event, except the birth of a child, that made me so happy so fast. And if they keep you at 24 weeks then you win twice. Best wishes for a favorable outcome. Alan

Today I was put on Prednazone for my Insivek rash and the insivek has been discontinued 4 days early.  They had wanted me to tough it out through the rest of this week, which i was attempting to do , but an increase in my head to toe bumps and excruciating itchiness led to this protocol.  they still say if I'm undetected this week I'll stay at 24 weeks.  I should know Friday and will share the news.  Tonight, however, i plan to SLEEP fingers crossed!!!!

my dermatologist recommended a body wash and lotion by the cetaphil brand called restor-a-derm that he has his lymphoma patients going through chemo use.  You can buy it over the counter in most drug stores and they run about $17-$19 each.  My skin felt 200 times better after using these products!

good luck,

Meghan

The Incivek rash was the worst skin ailment I have ever had. But like you guys, as soon as I completed the 12 weeks, my skin rejoiced. Yes, it's still dry and scaly, and yes, there are still a few riba rash bumps scattered about, but the relief from Incivek was fast and certain.

Glad you folks are no longer itching. That was one of those rashes that if you tried to scratch it, it turned from an itch to a burn. Nasty stuff.

BTW, I got 12 extra weeks just for not being UND at week 4. VL was <23, but I got 12 additional weeks anyway. So there is a 36-week program for some oddballs like me.

Hi Sed;
YES I did have sensitive skin after the incivek; and it was drrrrryyyyy and like tissue paper a bit; however it did ultimately take a few weeks for the itching and rash to totally clear but the itchyness did get better daily :) I was so thankful when my body began to feel somewhat normal :) The Rash took a bit longer than the itch to really go away. Hang in there!!!!!!!

Did she have sensitive skin after she got off the Incivek?  My skin is dry and feels like tissue paper.  But it's only been a week off it for me.

My fiancee Renee (LadyAlaise on here) had the same thing happen to her. It was frustrating for sure to know that she had to go so much longer, but she has remained undetectable. She's at week 17, almost week 18 now. What matters most is that her itchiness and rash are gone. She too thought it was the ribavirin at first...thankfully it was the incivik so she could continue on treatment. I hope that you feel better soon and that you will continue to be undetectable!

As I mentioned somewhere else here, I was having a really bad reaction.  My entire body, with the exception of my head, hands, and feet, was breaking out in an itchy rash that prevented me from sleeping.  I was absolutely miserable. cry

At a support group I go to, a doctor there thought it was from the ribavirin.  So I went to my doc and told him that.  He said that if it's the ribavirin, we'll have to stop treatment.  He thought it was the Incivek.  So I stopped the Incivek after 8 weeks.  I was undetectable at week 4.

It was crazy how quickly it cleared up.  My skin is still dry and sensitive, but no rash and no itching.  My doc was teasing me about how my medical diagnosis was, of course, correct.  (It wasn't).

The downside is that because he thinks I'm either f3 or f4, and I stopped the Incivek early, I'm on the 48 week plan.  I haven't had a biopsy because the result wouldn't change the course of treatment.  And why isn't there a 36 week regimen?

So the good:  I'm feeling a lot better.

The bad:  48 weeks

c'est la vie
