Mark, I also did the 3x per week treatment about 12 years ago.  I am week 23 of my triple treatment now.  The first 12 weeks are the hardest if you are on the incivik and hit me much harder than I expected.  I also got a bad case of anemia from the meds.  Be overly cautious with your activities and start off not doing too much to reduce stress on your body.  I am out of work on disability and am focusing 100% on my healing and highly recommend it if you can do that....I don't know how I could have worked those first 12 weeks but after that it gets easier.  No matter how hard it is it is worth it when you get the blood test results back.  :)  I was undetectable at 4 weeks and when I did the 3x per week treatment before the lowest viral load I had was 450,000 going for the full 48 weeks!!  Good luck and stay on here for advice.  Also, stick with one pharmacist for all of your meds and ASK ASK ASK about drug interactions...ask your doctor and pharmacist.

aloha,

Meghan

It's really nice to have found this forum. The last times on treatment(pre-www.), I told no one how I felt or what I thought. I knew they couldn't really understand. How could they? I just muddled thru, with my thoughts trapped in my mind. It's good to have found a place where people like myself can get help from people like myself. I hope someday to be able to help others as much as I hope y'all can help me. Thanks in advance!

I would recommend that you start "practicing" some new habits. These would include drinking much more water than you ever did before, even during the night, and reducing the temperature of baths and showers, and finding a good unperfumed bath soap with no deodorant in it. Also get some standard acetaminophen tablets, and an antihistamine like Benadryl. Look through this forum for lists of fatty snacks and dishes to eat at medicine time, which will be three times a day. Get some decent skin lotion, something intended to heal dry skin. Begin to think about your daily dosing schedule. It needs to be eight hours apart, all day and night. I used 6AM, 2PM and 10PM. Once you start, it is difficult to change these times. Whatever you choose, begin thinking about adjusting meal times to align with meds. It may not be possible, but makes life easier if you can work it out. These suggestions are all based on an assumption you will be using Incivek. If that is true, you also want to pick up some hemorrhoidal remedies, primarily some cream and some Witch Hazel based wipes. This will become a major part of your side effects management. However, if you are going to use Victrelis, one of the other folks can tell you more about that. Alan

I'm gonna be starting triple tx in the next few weeks, I've done peg/riba 3 times but it's been about 10 years since last tx. I am wondering if there are any special preperations I need to take/make before tx to make it more tollerable and effective. Thanks for any help you can give me.
