AD's are tricky medications. My best friend has clinical depression in additon to Hep C with cirrhosis. She has been on AD's for years but has to be careful due to which drugs are hard on the liver. Some work well but are pretty toxic on the liver and others not so well but are easier to tolerate. She is constantly having to adjust the meds or try new ones.
Go to your doc & see what else is out there for you to try. Wishing you luck!

Lexapro helped me with a driving phobia I had developed.  I'd tried a couple of different kinds before I found that Lexapro was correct for me.  

Then I had to remind myself that if correct, AD are like the right prescription eye-glasses.  They just help me see things in the right perception and aren't a reflection on my character.

I agree, we`re all different, I had Citalopram and luckily it suited me fine.  Best to ask your doc if he can prescribe something else for you Margo, or maybe give you a lower dose.

If I remember correctly (and thats always suspect smile) from an article I read lately, each antidepressant works on about 30% of people.  So you try one and if doesn't work, you keep going on to the next until you find one that fits.  What's great for one person is no good for someone else.

One more thIng I've noticed... I decided to gO on antidepressants for my family's sake. Primarily due to anxiety and some phobias I developed in the first weeks of treatment. My doc prescribed Citalopram, I developed headaches and it took me a week to realize something was wrong with me. Change in behavior, total carelessness towards everything, no interest in things I like and usual everyday chores, weird feeling in the forehead. As soon as I stopped, I was back to normal. I think the medication might be too strong or I simply don't need it yet. Any thoughts or recommendations on milder antidepressants? I was on Symbalta the first time around, don't remember any side effects, I'll mention to my doc about it. Thank you all for being there!!!
