Sounds like a very normal start to me. Get a light blanket or afghan and put it on the back of the couch to have it handy. Start assembling your tools, like mild bath soap with no perfumes or deodorant, a box of Aveeno oatmeal bath, some good quality skin lotion, maybe some hydrocortisone cream, and probably some Prep H products of your choosing. If you have a support staff at home, make sure and share all the new stuff you learn. You are right on track as far as I can see.

Ken, I would intense chills followed by fever and night sweats.  When I felt these coming on I just gave in and relaxed as much as I could and took an advil or 2.  Ask your doc about the advil but mine was fine with it.

good luck,

Meghan

Hi Ken,

I'm new here and much like you I am about to begin treatment next Friday Aug 10th 2012. I'll be on the same three meds as you. It's not the meds that concerns me. It's the side affects that scare the living day lights out of me. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

About to change my mind!

Great news, Ken. It is better when the medicine gives you few days to get accustomed. A few of the folks had pretty scary nights after the first shot. My first week was pretty easy. Sounds like yours will be, too. Just concentrate on getting in line with the new schedule and snack foods for your Incivek, and waltz right into it. You'll be fine. Alan

Sounds like the best possible schedule. I would have pushed mine back to 7, 3 and 11, but I was so committed to continuing my regular work schedule and 6 worked better. I carried my meds kit, which also contained itch cream, butt remedies, and any other side effects management, everywhere I went. That way if I got stranded anywhere it wasn't a big deal. Then after twelve weeks I slacked off a bit. Alan

Thanks Alan for info. My pill schedule started at 7am. So my next time will be at 3pm. I think around 6 or 7p I will take the riba. I am going to take the shot just before I go to bed around 10p and the last incivik at 11p. Hope this works for me. It should.

Ken

Thanks Jo I have a alarm clock that will be going off every 8 hours to remind me to take drugs. I started today 7/30/12 at 7am Florida time. Thanks I will take drugs with me if I go out. Didn't think of that. I will keep you all posted on my road to recovery.

Ken, I took two Tylenol w my shot and small dose of Benadryl to ward off side effects. I also take seriquel to sleep I take half of a 25 mg.
The RIBA makes sleeping difficult for me.
My iPhone alarm is set to go off daily at med times.
This has helped me so much not to miss dosage.
Do NOT miss Invicek, you must take every 7-9 hours with 20 grams of fat for it to work properly.
My doc preached this to me so much! She said if I cut my arm off
And headed to hospital and it's between getting my arm or my med! For me to get my med that we could get another arm! If u leave the house take Invicek with you just in case!!!
Hospitals do not stock triple tx drugs.
Drink lots Of water and Gatorade and glad you are joining us!!
Welcome
JoAnne

At my briefing with Genentech/Roche, the lady said I could take the second ribavirin with the second Incivek at 2PM, "just to get it out of the way". But that makes for a lopsided ribavirin schedule. I did it, and it obviously worked, but I bet it works better if you spread them out a little better, like with breakfast and supper, whenever those occur. The very important schedule is the Incivek, since it has such an incredibly short half life. You really need to pay attention to that one. The riba could easily be "twice a day" instead of a hard schedule. Glad you are about to get started. When I wake up tomorrow I'll remember that another slayer is starting down the trail. Best of luck to you. Alan

Ken, Can't add much to what Alan said. There is a magical difference between clearing all the obstacles to actually start (including my messed up thinking) and actually starting. Once you start, it really just falls into place. It does become the priority, and for me, an obsession, too. But that's OK. It got me thru it, and still managed to live a reasonable lifestyle although with significant compromises. But that's OK, too. Its not forever.

So, Monday will be your day one. I guess you will probably start with your pills at regular times (choose them carefully, because it is hard to change them) and do the shot in the evening. I can't remember which triple you are doing, but if it is Incivek you'll probably start at about 6AM, then 2PM, then 10PM. If you are doing Victrelis, you won't have to worry about that for a few weeks. But the best idea in my opinion is to embrace this seriously, allow modest changes in your life schedule and make treatment Job 1. Before long you will be used to it and can deal with any other issues, such as side effects, work schedule, etc. Good luck and let us know how it goes during the first few days. Alan
