My doctors actually tested my vitamin d levels prior to beginning treatment. I started daily doses of 2000iu D3 on their orders, and am still doing that today. They asked me to stop some other supplements during the Incivek stage, but the vitamin d continued.

There has been a lot written about Vitamin D supplementation. When I started treatment I asked my doc about this. He was responsible for a large trial of Victrelis in 2010. His guidelines were to obtain a Vit D level, and only supplement if this was low. Given our subtropical climate here in Queensland, he said he was not surprised when no patients were found to be low.

My Vit D levels are at the upper range of normal, so I am not taking any supplement.

interesting articles.  I had not heard about this in conjunction with treatment.  There are several studies out there (one that my cousin helped with in med school) to show that vitamin D supplementation, especially in winter time can be helpful.  The study she was involved with was in Boston where many people go to work in the morning when it is dark and return from work when it is dark.  The body does not get the vitamin D from the sun like it should so supplementation is helpful.

I would guess that as long as people are not mega-dosing vitamin D while on treatment than they are probably just fine....but I am not a doctor, just trying to ease your mind :)

Me too. I have been advised by my GP and my liver doctor to take additional D3 during treatment and now after treatment. I hope I didn't misunderstand something. It's a little late now. Alan
