Margo, I couch a lot especially when thirsty. And I too no longer feel as thirsty since stopping the Invicek so I have to remind myself constantly to drink.
Love ya

I had the Riba cough with chest congestion, too; still have it a little after stopping tx on Tues.  Takes Riba 6 months to leave system.

My dr started me on Neupogen when my WBCs dropped to 1.5.  They still dropped to 1.3 at one point, while in Neupo.  Last Monday they shot up to 7.1!  And my Neutrophils were actually HIGH at 82.1!  I posted my entire tx labs here in a spreadsheet; it's titled, "Do you need help with labs?"  You can see what our bodies goes through; pretty amazing!

My WBC got as low as 1.9 and stayed around there. I did become a lot more aware of my hygene, like wasking my hands, and kept hand disinfectant handy at work and home. And I tried to avoid sick people. Backed out on seeing the grandkids several times during the last couple of months, since they always seemed to have something I didn't want. I did not get the cough and stayed healthy (relative for us). The white blood stuff was all in the normal range at 2 weeks post. I have some kind of cold or flu right now. Go figure!

My WBC stayed around 2 the whole time (see the spreadsheet in the signature block) , but I never developed a nagging cough. The chance for infection is very real. But as long as you pay attention to things like salty taste when you cough, honking sound, etc. you should be fine. Your WBC is not so low that a peg reduction or neupogen shot is required (at least in my opinion... Your doctor knows best). Just take care of your self. Alan

Hi Rita, unless your doctor thinks you have an infection, dont stress about the cough too much. The chronic cough is a common side effect of the RIBA. And your timing is familiar to me. Mine didn't really develop until right after I stopped the incivek, stayed with me for the rest of Tx, and is finally going away after four weeks of detox. I did find the cough was better when I was hydrated so I used it as a reminder to drink a little more water. All the best, Dave

Since I've stopped incivek, I do drink less... I had the cough last time around as well, it is the RIBA. Sometimes, it's so bad I think I'm going to throw up, sorry for being graphic, I will try to catch up I'm hydration.

No wonder I've been Sick for so long, my WBC dropped from 2.3 to 2.0. My doctor doesn't think it's low enough to get Neupogen shots, not that I'm looking forward to it, in just afraid to develop some kind of infection in the lungs or anywhere else...
