The good news is that it goes away as fast as it comes.  When I stopped using Incivek, the butt pain was almost gone by the time I went to bed.  It was completely gone the next day.

I was prescribed hydrocortizone suppositories by my nurse practitioner, and those did better than anything else.

Marktrux, it started improving few days before I stopped and improved rapidly after I stopped.
You will start feeling better real soon. Some of us had bad skin reaction when we stopped for 2-3 afterwards, it passed too! My tongue is so sensitive but it's little better.
Congratulations for finishing Thursday:)
I didn't realize how close we are in tx time

Hi Marktrux.

Last day of Incivek is thursday?  Awesome!!!

If you're like me, the butt burn will go very quickly.  For me, it was just a couple days.

Hope it goes like that for you too.

Brad

JoAnne - thanks for letting me know about that search tool - I checked into that & found some unseful info - I do agree with the statement one said about being proactive with getting a jump start on the side affects.  I tried to do that & was denied stating I haven't started yet so they couldn't prescribe something for a sympton that I don't have yet.
REALLY!!!  I think doctor's advisor's should be more aware of side affects and be more proactive.  I did a lot of research before staring this and even though I'm a beginner I feel that I had more information on controlling side affects then they did.  Can't wait to call tomorrow. Have to go do my 9:30, hope all have a good night.

No, I haven't, I guess as long as it has lidocaine in it it should work just fine. I got lidocaine for my insane itch on my body and it's not greasy as prep h, however it's prescription only.

Yes I found as long as I kept my pill box and Invicek in one spot all
The time it helped w confusion too! No matter what don't miss Invicek!
Invicek will make you soooo thirsty! Drink lots of water and when I had too much water I drank Gatorade to help electrolytes.
If u mouth gets tender use Bioene toothpaste and mouth wash.
Make sure to have lots of lotions on hand.
I took Benadryl when rash acted up. It will pass do your best not to scratch but hey we all do at times.
The less u scratch the quicker it leaves.
U can do this!!!! We are healing our body.

noJoanne, so funny you mentioned using a timer cause I 'almost' forgot to take Riba w/my dinner yesterday.  Almost was too close so I'm using the "Pill Reminder" on my cell!!  Don't want to miss not one - don't want to set myself back.  I also took my pill case & put it on the counter - not going to try to hide anything - have to keep it real for me.

HepCFighter, I did a search for anal burning do check it out.
Having alarm clock to remind u of medicine is very important. Without it I would miss doses between exhaustion and foggy thinking.
My iPhone programs alarm time to go off daily. So helpful.

noThanks for the support!  Yes, I'm on Incivek and can't wait until I am where you are at, JoAnne!!!  I'm going to call my Dr. tomorrow first thing.  I did read somewhere about Immodium working as well.  I am taking more than the 20 gr of fat thinking that can only help fight this battle.  For tonight I've got my 9:30 dose then hopefully rest for the day ahead of me tomorrow.  Not really looking forward to going to work dealing with this, but a person has gotta do what ya gotta do.  I'm so glad I found this forum.  As the days go on I'm sure I'll need this more than ever!

I can only assume by your description that your're on Incivek. If you make sure and keep your fat intake up( I went up to 30 grams), the burning is somewhat lessened, but it'll run thru you pretty quick. Cheese has a good amount of fat and slows things down sum, but slowing things down too much can cause hemaroids.  It's a very delicate balancing act. It does seem to get better after a little time, or we just get used to it. Good Luck!

Hey Newbie,
Are you on triple tx w Invicek. I just finished Invicek 8 days ago.
I had LOTS of anal burning. Do e search for anal burning and see where you may GI d older posts w helpful suggestions.
Welcome to starting the tx. I found eating w all medicines helps my stools. As far the skin burning:
Methods I used: senistive baby wipes, cornstarch, even witch hazel.
Soaked in oatmeal bath treatment. Used diaper rash cream as in Butt Paste.
I used Hemmoroid med.
I know for constant loose stools members have used Imodium.
Try eating w meals to see if it helps. The med exits and burns the skin.
Call your doctor for advice too. Also I used tucks once. Prep H and even aquaphor cream.
Sleep without under ware and lay on your side w leg propped up.
Your body is reacting and it's important to treat symptoms promptly.
Hang in there! U have made it thru those first three days:)
JoAnne
