You right sorry  Rule #1 you always got to pass the decision by the doctor Treating Your Liver the ones I mentioned are being given to Hep c  people w/ chirrosis etc   so go to rule  #1 everone's condition is different

Try to do to the  ( professional or psyciatrist you will use )  Get them to speak with the liver doc and try to get you liver doctor write the script  so he approves what your getting  This go's for any suggested drug I only mentioned the ones I know about OK?

Mizz M , Happy B daycake.gif.. just bear in mind take your list voice your concerns ..ask away at the Doc's office..  try to have them all work together for your behalf... if you had a medications that did work for you.. discuss this as well.  We're all in this fight together but we are all different when it comes to how our body handles " stuff"  hopefully you will get some good medical attention to help you make better informed decisions on meds and the next step of this journey

smile Hi , thanks for Bday wish,  and advice to get all the ducks in a row about meds. Im making a list of all the personal care needs for side effects.  Im concerned about doing alot of antihistamines, and N/V meds. Pheragan is an antihistamine, so maybe it will have a doulbe use. I have a Rx for xanax, in fact I have three, I never use it, it expires because I forget it, refuse to take it, or dont like the hang over even  0.125mg gives me. I only take 1/4 a perocet with 12.5 phenergan for pain. The only thing I pop is chewable childrens asprin, cant tell the anxiety from heart attack, mirgraine from a stroke. LOL As you can see I dont take alot of meds. Have a Good Life Michaele

Hey, I understand, and I was asking to hear different persons experiences, not just an answer to one question . But with all the stuff out there I am miffed. I was stage 3 on biopsy, then 2 wks later I had a CT that noted change in portal vein, now GI is saying portal hypertension, getting upper GI 9/18. Can things go down hill that fast?  Portal hyper is stage 4. Ive been infected sine 1971; if my guess is right. Personally, I feel darn good most of the time, maybe it the manic in me . LOL  Heres hope  Michaele

Hi Michaele, in your case I think it would really be best to ask your doctor what he recommends.  Anti-depressants can be very helpful indeed while on tx but they can affect people differently, what works for some may not suit others.

I`ve just noticed that it`s a special day for you, so a big "Happy Birthday" to you!!  Hope you`ve having a good one!  cake.gif

All the best to you, Jill xx

ps - I`ve moved this thread to General Discussion

Hi, thanks for quick reply. I read cymbalta was  the one most toxic. I never tried it, Prozac worked way back, but it a dinosaur now. 2 of my children where on lexapro in the past.  I have heard lexapro seems to help alot of folks when the others don't ..good luck peace and love MJ

I tried Lexapro is about the same so your choice adding Cymbalta helped with my leg pain ( a-little ) did not work enough for me and I wondered if it added depression so I dropped it ( not everybody gets that some rave about that combo ) The combo Wellbutrin w/ Cymbalta is very common

Cymbalta was great for me or Lexapro. They are mild drugs however, if you have a history of any disorders you should ask your doctor what's best for you and try a few because they do effect everyone differently.

For me, Effexor XR was/is the drug which has worked the best. I tried a few and none leveled things out quite like this one.

cry Hi all, I need to start antidepressants before starting Tx. Being Bipolar I just ride the wave up and down and have learned how to use the wave. Get house work and gardening done while manic,  bake like the dough boy, get the picture . When Im depressed I sit in front of TV or PC in the same duds ; all teary eyed . Does anyone really know if there is a safe antidepressant for us. I see a therapist Q 2 wks. Ive passed on the pills  since Dx in 2004.  All suggestions welcome.  Michaele

Hi Michaele,

Everything we eat and drink has to be processed by the liver and some meds/substances are more difficult to process than others. When you have impaired liver function it can mean that the liver is not as efficient at removing toxins as a healthy liver. It's a balancing act, taking into account the benefits and possible harm when taking medication.

As Bills has suggested, make sure you air your concerns and that the psychiatrist and liver doc are communicating with each other and that way you should get the best possible meds that will be tailored to suit you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! smile

Steff xx
