Sorry to hear about your thyroid  My TSH was abnormal last set of tests but the T4 was normal and am waiting on the T3. Doc seems to think if they are okay then the TSH is due to the Peg as you mentioned. I hope something turns in your favor and this problem resolves on its own. That biopsy must've been uncomfortable, did they do it under a local anesthetic? I'm so glad you're through with the poison and know you'll never have to deal with Interferon again! Rest and recover! Best of luck with your thyroid! Keep us posted smile

I would ask the doctor if medications could treat the hyperthryoid and if they so no--why not? Maybe get the opinion of endocronologist.

Just went to endo doc.

I am going for thyroid testing next Tues & Wed. Don't know why two days in a row. Looking for 'Graves Disease'

is what they have been saying. I currently am NOT on any meds for thyroid.

I am just hoping I don't have to stop treatment.

Thanks for concern

Hi Butcheeyboy
I went through tx--from December to July-completed. And had thyroid issues--of course I was hypothyroid prior to tx, While on tx my numbers soared making me more hypo. The thyroid governs your metabolism and does need to be closely monitored during tx. They were able to bring my levels back down into the normal range but it took several changes to medications and the addition of new thyroid med. When I finished the meds were not adjusted and my thyroid went hyper--felt really bad. Once again the doctors were able to get under control with adjustment to medication. I am still being monitored by the docs--because it can take several months to be completely back to normal ( whatever "normal" is).

I would ask the doctor if medications could treat the hyperthryoid and if they so no--why not? Maybe get the opinion of endocronologist.
Hang in there!!

Hi sorry about about your situtation, glad vl is down. Im already on thyroid meds and dont eat alot of meat. 1 bite every few months; when cooking for others.  My Dr is ok with this, she mentioned the tx often can affect  the thyroid and she would monitor levels. I Will start Tx in a month or 2 . I trust her , she is very calm and reassuring. I wonder if anyone here also had thyroid problems pre tx. My TSH was only slightly elevated , and they keep lowering the guidelines, they keep lowering guidelines for high blood pressure. yea, I got that too. My BP wouldnt be so high if my kids didnt p*** me off so much. LOL I think they enjoy watching my veins  in my head bulge and pulsate.  Good luck      MIchaele      I wish I had an answer for you, I'd like to know the answer myself

I started treatment in March 2012.

Now the Dr.'s are bringing up an issue with my thyriod. They say that I have

hyperthyroidism as well as being anemic (?) spelling?

They are even thinking of taking me out of treatment program, which I am

not happy about as I have come this far. My viral load is 'negative' at this

point but I have to go until Feb./March of 2013.

How concerned should I be about this thyroid issue?
