Hep C Discussion Forum

I know that many doctors are bad mouthing the herbal treatments for hep c.  All that I can do in response is to tell you my experience with the treatment designed by Dr. Zhang.  I had hep c for many years without it being diagnosed.  The internist that I was seeing kept telling me that all of the pain that I was feeling in my abdomen was due to me holding weight in that area and he kept advising me to go on a diet.  The irony was that I could barely hold food down.  Often when I ate the food would putrify for days in my stomach and then I would vomit it up.  I told this jerk of a doctor that and he said that he had never heard of such a thing.  When I finally found out that I had hep c I read that not being able to  digest food is one of the signs that you have hep c.  Finally, I went to a doctor that I didn't know for a sore throat.  This doctor was staring at my face and asking me questions that had nothing to do with a sore throat.  He finally asked me to lie down and he felt around my abdomen.  When he finished the examination he said that he was sorry to tell me that he believed that I had hep c and that he would send me for a blood test to confirm it.  Of course, the blood test was positive and after years of being insulted by the internist, I finally knew what was wrong with me.  He then gave me te name of a doctor that specialized in hep c to follow up with tratment.  I went to see this doctor and he spoke of me going on interferon.  I went home and read all that I could about interferon and was horrified at the side effects.

I was going on a planned vacation to Tucson and I decided while I was there I would try to see a doctor at DR. Weil's Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona Medical Center.  I called the center when I got to Tucson and was advised to contact Dr. Zhang and to follow his herbal program for hepatitis c.  I had already changed the way that I ate and that had given me some relief from the pain and the inability to hold food down.  I now ate 6 small meals a day and avoided certain foods and that helped a lot to make me feel better but I wanted to find a way to cure the virus.  As it turned out, I read Dr. Zhang's book "Curing Hepatitis C With Modern Chinese Medicine" and felt that I understood his program well enough that I really did not need to see DR. Zhang.  I just needed to begin his herbal protocol.  What I especially liked about the herbal treatment was that there were no side effects to any of the herbs except that one of them could be a problem for people with high blood pressure.  I have low blood pressure so that was not a concern for me.  I called Hepa-Pro, the company that distributes Dr. Zhang's herbs, and they asked a few questions and advised me as to which herbs I should take to begin with.  All that I can say is that after 3 weeks I began to truly feel better.  This was six years ago and I am feeling fine now.  I still take the herbs but less of them as I am doing so well.  My viral load was originally in the millions but the virus is barely present in me now and it has been that way for a long time.  

Dr. Zhang says that the herbs will not eradicate the virus completely but will bring your viral load down to such a low level that the virus will not be a problem for you.  That is what it has done for me and I am fine with that.  All that I can tell you is my personal experience with Dr. Zhang's herbal treatment.  I understand that a number of doctors are bad mouthing him but I am very grateful to him for giving me my life back.  I do agree that the herbs are rather expensive and have no doubt that Dr. Zhang is making quite a bit of money on them but that is fine with me also as they work.  What I really cannot understand is why so many people with hep c choose to take interferon with its side effects.  The hepatologist that I see says that he wishes that all of his hep c patients would follow the herbal protocol but most of them come to him asking for interferon.  I just thought that I would share my story with the group here.  After years of suffering I do not feel ill at all now and it's wonderful!
