For all you Invicek users, hang in! I made
It thru it but thought I would crack around 8 weeks then it improved here and there.
It was hard, symptoms popped up continuously.
The butt pain was torturing! The rash
Too. I ate a lot and maybe that helped
Me as I never have had dose reductions.
You will feel better at 13 week! Pamper yourself,
Sleep all you can. Drink water and sleep without
Bottoms on to help air get to heal buttock area.
Ask any questions, I did and this forum was
A life saver. You just got to tx symptoms as
Quickly as possible. Side effects are not your
Fault, it's medicine! Anemic still here
But it is so much better without Invicek.

Hearing Riba may cause some insomnia. Thats why recommended to take an evening dose a few hours before bedtime. Anyways, my doc has prescribed Xanax for that. Low 0.25 to start with, increase if necessary. But so far so good at 0.25. Coping with light sleep more or less. After Incivek course is over, will get back to a different timetable, which hopeully will allow to have a better sleep through the night.

For me, it was the pharmacist. When I started this treatment again I had to go to their place and be "consulted" on the treatment. I was told they would be my go between with the MD. If I needed anything I was to contact them and they would contact the MD. After a month if sleepless night and trying everthing thing i could think of to sleep I called them yesterday. He spent minutes telling me why he could not help and kept suggesting things that I already tried. Every time I tried to talk to the guy he would cut me off. I finally popped (rib-rage, always had a problem with that) and got forcefull in order to be heard. The bottom line I ended up calling my ever pleasant nurse (I'm biased that way ) and got me a sleep aid. I wanted Trazodone but it turns out that Incivek acts as an enchantment to it and I got Ambien instead.

I was never too happy with my doctor or his staff, and at 23 week post without the riba rage, I'm still not.  For example, they would have me listed on the wrong meds and dosages, repeatedly. And last time I saw a PA for the first time, who was not informed about my case specifically, much less hep C in general. Fortunately, it was only their organization and bed side manner that was out of wack and not the technical decisions. But all that doesn't matter. We know what to do and how to do it and just keep doing it day after day.

I did the Incivek triple, but I had the most wonderful nurse. She was always glad to see me, knew all about what I was doing and what I needed to do next. I can tell you that when the Incivek is finished your life will get so much better. The 8-hour dose schedule goes away immediately. Ribavirin twice a day and a shot each week. You can live with that. The itch will disappear, or at least drastically reduce, the butt burn will begin to go away. The anemia won't be affected, sadly, since it is caused by the ribavirin. But I guarantee you will feel so much better overall. And the rest of your life you will know that you are one tough cookie. Alan

Hi Will, sorry you're having a tough time of it, but as Bouba says, things will improve when you finish the Incivek. It's disappointing about your nurse- they should help you get through treatment. We're here to help and support so ask any questions you like. Good luck with treatment- do you have any Viral Load figures ? Cheers.

Hi Will,

You are lucky to have only 3 weeks of Incivek left. I am finishing week # 4 today and feel like a vegetable. Sorry for that nurse, she must be feeling even worse than her patients ....
I hope, that right after we finish the Incivek course, the energy and mood will get better. Keep well!!!
