I have a similar story I think I've been infected about 30 yrs Been with my wife about 27 yrs very little protected sex     She and my son tested and  My first discussion with MD said She is neg and so is my son  I have not heard anything from any one before that either Thank God  Dr said don't change your lifestyle use protection if it makes you and her feel safer  if it didn't happen in all those years is most likely won't   I worry more about razors and toothbrushes  and cuts   I stop everything  when ever I get cut and wrap it I also clean up the blood

I'd be more worried about getting it from a biting insect then sex. I too was concerned but the chances are slim to none. But there is still a chance.

My personal experience, been with the same woman since discharged from the Army, over 30 years now. Have one child who is 30 years old. Both are HCV negative.

Sexual transmission of HCV among monogamous heterosexual couples: The HCV partners study.

The efficiency of hepatitis C virus (HCV) transmission by sexual activity remains controversial. We conducted a cross-sectional study of HCV-positive persons and their partners to estimate the risk for HCV infection among monogamous heterosexual couples.

The results of this study provide quantifiable risk information for counseling long-term monogamous heterosexual couples in which one partner has chronic HCV infection. In addition to the extremely low estimated risk for HCV infection in sexual partners, the lack of association with specific sexual practices provides unambiguous and reassuring counseling messages. (HEPATOLOGY 2012.).
