Hi Nancy, we've discussed all this before, most recently on JoAnne's thread 'Did my doctor make a mistake on treatment duration?' in this section. If you become undetected while on Rx, the cycle of inflammation and liver damage stops. If you rebound or relapse, the cycle starts again. There is little correlation with VL. The longer you are Undet., the longer your liver has a chance to start to heal itself.

According to Malcomb and others on forum YES the liver gets a break by time to repair some of the damage. Viral loads fluctuate but normally go up if you still have Hep C

Need to know if your liver gets a rest from the virus attack, while you are on treatment. If you don't respond to treatment, then does your viral load go up??
