Hi Deb,

I am on TX now, F3, etc.

Asked my doctor the same question, even before I was UND, and the answer was that a glass of wine a week will do no harm. But I did not feel like, as my taste

has become different while on TX.  Though a champagne went well last night (just one glass).  Maybe due to the cultural background, Swiss/French doctors are more lenient.

And surely, I will get back on wine if/when I clear the virus. Moderation is the key ...

Happy New Year and SVR wishes!

That would be nice.  And I was never a big wine drinker.  But we have one restaurant that has a wine we like with one of theire meals, and I do miss that.  But other places I am fine with iced tea.  And champagne was just on New Years Eve, but it was a tradition....but sparkling cider was nice too.  But I would like to be able to have some once in a while.   So maybe next year when I ring in 2014 I can enjoy a glass :)  Thanks!

I'm no expert, but I don't think it would be much of an issue. But the big factor might be how much liver damage you have. If it has reached the point of being cirrhotic, I imagine any alcohol use would be discouraged.

Oh of course!  I didn't think about that.  I don't have any damage.  Thanks!

I am stil waiting for my new doctor to get the meds approved by my insurance company, but they said they would be out of the office until Jan 2 so I wasn't expecting anything over the holidays.

But tonight, as I celebrate the New Year, I am telling myself that this is my year!  I will be starting my treatment (hopefully in the next month) and when I celebrate the coming of 2014 I will be virus free!

Oh.....and just a question.....Is a little alcohol alright after you have cleared the virus?  I am not a big drinker (used to have wine once a month or twice a month when we went someone nice for dinner).  But I did alway enjoy a glass of champagne on New Years Eve.  This year it is sparkling cider.

So if all goes well and I am virus free, do doctors tell you that you can have a little alcohol then?  Or is it always a no no.  I hadn't given it much thought until tonight when I had to buy the sparkling cider instead of our annual champagne.
