"various shades of red and pink"....lol We are vacation in Key West and there are many people who fit that description laying around here, that's for sure. I guess I did it when I was young too. Can't ride them too much. But I would assume none of them are on triple tx either. I did the booze drugs and women thing too Malcolm.........alas, those days are long gone except for my lovely Diana....lol

I have been off riba since 8/30 but I am still very careful with the sun. A big hat and tons of sunscreen. During tx I stayed out of it as much as possible while working outside every day. Not easy.

Be careful.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Decided not to go..........Just kidding!! Will certainly take care in the sun, won't be doing any sunbathing. Don't actually have a rash but don't intend to increase the chances of getting one by being careless. Starting to feel a bit clearer after stopping the incivo, my brain fog is starting to lift. Think at 11 weeks and 2 days maybe my body was at its limit of tolerance. 3 days off now. Thanks again for the feedback, not travelling until Jan 15th so will probably be on forum again before I gosmile

Hi Adam,

My hepatologist was very clear  - avoid exposure to the sun. If not mistaken, he mentioned,  while on Ribavirin ....

Hope you enjoy your trip, Adam, you`ve been to Goa before so you know what to expect and no doubt 3 weeks of warmth and sunshine will set you up nicely after the miserable weather we`ve been having over here!  I don`t know about  you, but I really felt the cold when I was on tx.  As long as you`re careful to stay out out of the sun and take the necessary precautions I`m sure you`ll be fine.  smile

I`ll be thinking of you relaxing on your balcony with your kindle and soaking up the warmth...and I won`t be a bit jealous, lol.  wink

Take care, Jill

Hi malcolm

Looks like I'll be cooched up with my kindle then on the hotel balconysmile Been to Goa before, stayed in Candolim. There is a "Frank Zappa" shack there. The myth is he was there in the early 1980's too, perhaps you met him!! There is lots of package tour Russians there now too. Travelled around kerela and Tamil nadu last year for a month. This time we plan to travel up to Hampi for a couple of days if I feel up to it. We went there last time we were in Goa and my wife had the dreaded Deli belly so she wasnt able to enjoy it. Will take pro biotics with me, and start my mornings with a lime soda and lassi (good for keeping deli belly at bay). Thanks for your advice, all the best, Adamsmile

Hi Adam, good luck! There is nothing to do in Goa except lie in the sun and drink. I doubt you'll be doing either.

I first went to Goa in the 1980's- party time, booze, drugs, women.  Went back 3 years ago with my wife. It is now full of British Package Tours, and the Brits lie topless and sometimes bottomless on the beach, (much to the joy of the Indian watchers) and turn various shades of red and pink. The capital, Panjim, is a pleasant enough old Portuguese town, but most stay at the Northern or Southern beaches. Ajuna is popular with Brits. You will find that you will have problems in the sun- try to avoid it. The slightest sun exposure will give you an angry red rash. At night, the only entertainment is in bars, where the Brits gather, get pissed and sing songs of home. Be very careful what you eat- hygiene in restaurants is poor. Take lots of bowel medicine eg lomotil. You'll be longing for the beautiful beaches of Pembrokeshire!

Most do not take antimalarials as there are no mossies except in monsoon season. However, be guided by your doctor.

It's 38C here today. I have not been in the sun for 42 weeks- if I sit on our balcony and some sun hits me, I come out in an angry rash. As I am normally quite tanned, this pale skin is a novelty.

Hi everyone

Was wondering if anyone has any guidance around travel to hot climates. My mother in law has treated my wife and I to a holiday in the sun, 3 weeks in Goa, India (my mother in law is coming too.....which is nice, I can hear all the mother in law jokes as i write ) Have not had rash but skin has been burning for the last week. My Dr took me off the incivo Sunday afternoon with 4 days to go. I was feeling breathless, face burning and tongue feeling wierd, like it had electricity going through it, also temperature and achey. All early symptoms of stevens syndrome. Dr said this was highly unlikely but better to play it safe, and that it wont have negative impact on tx outcome, particuarly as I am UND and am now doing the 48 week double (so 36 left). Dr has given me the all clear to travel, all my bloods are really good. Had read previously that we should stay out of sun if on incivo, but not sure about ribavarin and interferon. Am aware many of you on the forum live in sunnier climes than here in West and wet Wales, UK, such as Australia and california. how do you get on with Sunshine? Have forgotten what it is like here, has rained for last 3 summers. I am using aveeno cream daily and have bought some aveeno shower gel also. Drinking lots of water too. Would it be best to stay out of the sun? Also need to take anti malarials (malerone) Dr has said there are no contra indications and have checked and double checked on internet, seems to be ok. Does anyone have any experience of taking anti malarials while on tx?

Any thoughts/feedback much appreciated

Best wishes

Adamsmile
