Thank you very much, Malcolm for detail response. We just received UND for 4 post treatment weeks. Wish you to still UND too.

Hi Uval,

There is no correlation between the ANA and HCV PCR.

The A.N.A. measures the Anti Nuclear Antibody, which is one of the autoantibodies. If +ve, it suggests autoimmune disease, and may be +ve in some viral diseases such as HCV. It is not very useful.

The HCV PCR is the Polymerase Chain Reaction test that is used to quantify the amount of HCV in the blood.

It is a bit unusual for the liver enzymes to rise after Rx. These are only small numbers, but I would get them repeated. If you had some recurrent HCV activity, the ALT should be higher than the AST. Reversal of this ratio is a sign of cirrhosis. There are many causes of slightly elevated enzymes, but it's not what you want to see at this stage. I'm sure they'll be normal if you get them repeated.

Is any correlation between ANA direct (antinuclear antibodies) test and result of HCV PCR? We have negative ANA direct test (not special for HCV tests like ELISA or RIBA) and are waiting for PCR Quant. results. It's 4 weeks post treatment test.

Another question - AST/ALT were in normal range (25-45) during the Tx, but jumped now till 82/73. How could be described this?
