Hello:

Undetectable does not mean there is no virus present.  Currently the limits of detection are 9 - 15 virus units per ml.  The limits of quantification are 25 vu/ml.  SVR means for all practical purposes the virus has been eliminated.  Hope this helps.

Yes that would sure be nice if they did have something like that for those that can't SRV.

To be honest...I would be just as content if they had a "1 a day" pill I could take for the rest of my life that had no side effects and kept the virus completely suppressed :)

Thanks Malcolm. I will do the 12 draw on Tuesday, but feel confident it will still be UND. Then the "nail biting" starts. Unfortunately I am at ease now knowing the probability of each blood draw (since my 4th) will be UND AS LONG AS I AM TAKING THE PILLS. Now going off TX I will be worrying constantly whether it will stick or not. Actually, I accept my fate, but hope and pray for the best...for me and all of us.

Hi Michael,

Congratz on finishing your Trial, and being Undet. at weeks 4, 8 and 12. Undetected means just that, there is no detectable HCV RNA virus. It doesn't matter what drugs are used, the result is the same. Your Trial probably has a strict follow-up regime. You will need to stay Undetected for another 24 weeks to achieve an official SVR. Good luck.

Geno 1b, IL28B CT,  x3 prior relapser,  ex-cirrhotic, 75 yo, did 48 weeks with Victrelis/Peg./Riba.  VL 1.28m at start, UNDET. at 8 ,12 ,16 ,24 ,30  and 48 weeks.  EOT 15 Feb 2013 , UNDET. at EOT + 28 weeks. SVR!  Still Undet. at EOT +5 years

Thanks. I know I won't be in the clear so to speak unless I achieve 24 week svr or 6 mos. I was just wondering if there is a difference  going UND by different TX methods, or just as long as you get it suppressed  one way or the other it's all the same. thks

I believe it's a matter of how long you remain UND before you're officially thought to have a SVR.

Hi folks. Finishing up my 12 week gilead trial on Tuesday. I have been undetected since week 4. 3 prior attempt/fails with interferon/riba and the last trip tx with Vict. My question. Is there a difference between going UND on the new oral drugs I am on vs the current FDA approved Trip Tx that include interferon. I know the newer drugs I am on attack the virus a little differently. I know the "pot of gold at the end of the rainbow" is SVR, but is UND just that...no matter how it is attained? thks
