I know I'm very lucky to only have to do 24 weeks total, and I only have a couple weeks left.  But I've had it!!  I don't know how all of you who have to go 48 weeks, and with a third drug, could possibly get through it.  I admire you all.  If I had to do this much longer, I'm not sure I would continue.

I'd just like to whine for a moment to people who probably understand.  I haven't told many people in my life, and the few I have told of course don't really get how frustrating it is.  I've been feeling much worse physically the past 6 weeks or so, and I've suddenly become extremely depressed and hopeless.  I have had these feelings before, but I'm on medication and I've worked hard on my mental health (and see a great therapist), but now I'm kind of overwhelmed by these negative feelings.  I can only hope that it might be a side effect of the treatment and therefore might go away when I'm done, or soon after?  I don't know.

And now my hair, which was already fine and pretty thin, is falling out at a crazy rate.  Hair is everywhere, and it feels and looks like there's not a whole lot left on my head.  I was already quite self-conscious about my hair - this is not helping my mood any.  What if it doesn't grow back?  I am not prepared to deal with that.

I am very, very sick of this, all of it! ---end rant

Thanks for listening.

I remember that feeling.   Last few weeks I got impatient and tired of it.  It goes fast though.  Will be done and over before you know it.

LaBajista, I know it seems like a long ways a way still......but it is only a couple of more weeks and you will be on the road to recovery.....and if you wouldn't mind, I would love to hear how it is going during your recovery. Since we are on the same treatment maybe it could give me an idea of what things will be like 5 weeks after ending treatment. The end is in sight for you! Hang in there!

Thanks all for the encouragement. I really need it.
And DJ good luck with your trip - even if you're not feeling 100%, you'll probably be feeling better than you are now, which will likely seem to be pretty damn good. At least one would hope. :) Have fun.

Hi Deb,

Recovery after EOT is an individual thing. You're only doing 24 weeks so you should be OK. I'm old, and did 48 weeks. Up until 3 days ago, I was disappointed at how slowly I was improving, even though my blood work was coming up nicely. At EOT + 4 weeks, someone flicked a switch and I am feeling much, much better. I'm limited by my muscle wasting but mentally I'm almost back to normal. You should be fine, but you may not be 100% physically. You will still have a lot of Ribavirin floating around. Cheers.

Thanks.  I already told my husband we may be spending a lot of time just relaxing at the resort (we are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge so it will be a lovely place to relax).  But I do want to go to the parks and to a nice place to eat one day, so I am hoping to have the strength to do that.  I would delay the trip if I could, but honestly with two daughters in college and wanting this to be a family trip, it was the only week we could all plan to go.

Can anyone tell us about how long it takes to feel back to normal again after tx? I booked a vacation for 5 weeks after my treatment ends. Will I feel up to doing things then? I sure how so. We are going to Disney World which is my favorite place on earth, and I want to be able to walk around. Right now, I couldn't walk around the block! So is there a big improvement in 5 weeks after treatment?

LaBajista,
I am a 48 weeker, triple tx.
I tried tx 12 years ago on double tx.
Tx isn't easy!!!!
Just reaching the end, I became so
Anxious for it to end. I thought I couldn't
Go on!! My hair came out about 4 months.
I have fine hair too. I bought a wig!
I always colored my hair too. I have quit coloring it.
I actually have grown use to the short hair!
The medicine puts a heavy fog of depression
On us, do something you enjoy everyday!
Read inspirational material. Count your blessings
Not your burdens! Get a wig:)
You are a fighter, you will get to the end.
At 24 weeks I thought I would go insane
W 24 more to go. I was sad for a while and the
Forum friends were awesome to encourage me.
I got over it and became thankful for the opportunity
To beat Hep C.
Your liver is getting a much needed break and
Med is working for you. I know it's tough but
You got this! Xxoo

Hi LaBajista,

I know hair is an important thing to me...but I have heard from people who have done triple tx that your hair grows back thicker and fuller. I know when I first started this journey that was my first thought "my hair"....But know this you are almost done and I always go back to a song by Kelly Clarkson..."Stronger"  http://youtu.be/Xn676-fLq7I  Stay strong!

Hi LaBajista,

You`re welcome to have a rant here, and we`re happy to listen!  I remember feeling just the same during the last couple of weeks of tx, and 24 weeks is no walk in the park either.  The psychological effects can be difficult to cope with, and by the end I felt as though I`d turned into someone I didn`t actually like very much!

Hang on in there, it does get better post tx, and you`ll be so glad you did it, I`m sure.  I know it`s alarming to see your hair falling out, but don`t worry, it will grow back!  smile

Keep going, you`re nearly there!  ~ Jill

Hi LaBajista,

We understand how you feel. Mentally, treatment grinds you down. Your chances of SVR are supurb- just concentrate on that. Your hair WILL grow back. Tough it out for the last 2 weeks. Cheers.
