Starting habitual drinking was in my "dumbest things" list.

Stopping drinking goes in my "smartest things" list, which helps because that list is much shorter...

Life is simply easier all around without alcohol in it. When I miss it it's usually for some perverted reason like thinking it's got some kind of noir sophistication to it.

Maybe so, but it wasn't concern about my liver or health in general that got me sober, and its not what keeps me sober. If I choose to drink again, it will be be least of my worries, until it catches up with me down the road.

I agree! Zero interest in all of that. Main focus is life free of this virus.

Yes, I agree, Malcolm and I think you`re very wise.  I still don`t drink, and after avoiding alcohol for so many years I don`t miss it at all.

Cheers, Jill

Even moderate drinking may be risky with hepatitis C

(Reuters Health) - For people with the chronic liver infection hepatitis C, heavy drinking is an obvious no-no, but a new study links even modest alcohol consumption with an increased risk of death - and not just from liver disease.

"What this study shows is... truly, even what might be considered a moderate and safe amount of alcohol use in people without hepatitis C is dangerous to your health if you have hepatitis C," said Rae Jean Proeschold-Bell, a hepatitis C researcher at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, who was not involved in the study.
