I had one 'negative' when the lab ran a Qualitative instead of a Quantitative test. My dr interpreted it as undetected. I got in the habit of bringing in a sheet listing their HCV tests and highlighted which one to run.

thanks for your post. In my VL result, show Negative.   I think I need ask the same question. April 9, when I go to see my RA, I will ask her.

Hi Dunfind,

Negative is a strange term to use but it should mean Undetected. Quest have 2 VL tests. The PCR test has a LLOQ of 15 and the Heptimax test has a LLOQ of 5. It's a bit odd that they are using different tests.

Can you ask them why? Cheers.

I recieved my results and my viral load was negative! what is the difference between a negative result and undetected? My Uric acid was high and my nurse told me to drink cherry juice..I had my lab work done at quest, and the nurse said the next blood draw for my 8th week will be a different test for viral load..Im thinking a stricter test maybe?
