Hi Ronna,

Thanks for your encouragement and glad to hear that your husband has rebounded since the end of treatment.  My husband has just over 3 weeks to go now - it's been a long 48 weeks!  We are definitely looking forward to getting over the finish line.

Keep in touch and let me know how you're travelling along.  Caroline

Caroline,

My husband finished treatment about 3 weeks ago.  Honestly, the last 8 weeks of treatment were the hardest.  It felt like it took forever for the finish line to get here.  My husband really suffered those last few weeks.

It is amazing how quickly he has rebounded now that he is done treatment.  He was negative for hep C virus at the end of treatment.

He is still very thin, but is feeling so much better and it feels like things are finally getting back to normal around here!

Hang in there!

Ronna

With the diarrea problem what helped me was drinking a Gator Aid G2 type drink one a day and then I used an over the counter aid  to stop the diarrea took a half before I went out to avoid accidents.  Stayed away from certain foods and you will only know which ones. Yes drink lots of fluids because I had problems with my kidneys folding the indicator was the creatin level.

hope it works

Hi Caroline,

I empathise with hubby. The 18 pills a day becomes a nightmare for the 48 weekers. I didn't have any bowel problems but by that stage my diet was wierd. I ate a lot of fruit ( grapes, watermelon, mangoes), icecream, cheese, toast and peanut butter and coudn't stand meat. Keep up the fluids to avoid constipation. Really, getting from day to day was an achievement. I'm counting down the days with him. Cheers.

I got it early in treatment but now i only get it from mainly coffee. Had severe butt rash and had to soak in tub my butt was so red and sore. Doc reduced my riba to 2 in morning and 1 at night. Dont know if it was that, but it helped. I got 7 weeks to go now and not doing it anymore. But i am getting really anxious about this to be over. Maybe Malcom or someone more experienced can help.

Good luck and try to hang in there for 7 more weeks..

I don't have the sligest idea of what this is like on Victrelis. You said "I thought this problem was more for those on Incivek"

I had problems with it off and on on Incivek.  The problem was more me not eating enough fat before my dosage. I believe Malcom said somewhere on the forum to take the meds with the meal. That helped for me. I also eat a little more fat after taking it. I still had problems some weeks. I used a hemorrhidal pad with witch hazel to help with the burning.

Hi all,

Hubby has just under 8 weeks to go.  He is fast becoming desperately over treatment.  He's suffering between severe diarrhoea and constipation.  The diarrhoea being very bad and what he refers to as like 'burning lava'.  We have spoken to our nurse/specialist about this, but again it's all par for the course so we're told.

I thought this problem was more for those on Incivek, but would be interested to hear from those on Victrelis as to whether you have experienced the same and what you have done to treat the problem with any success.  Thanks in advance guys.  Caroline
