Thanks Mallani

I've been insulin dependent since my first go with interferon. My normal dose is 100 units which is an entire syringe full. I'm just worried that this triple therapy will run my levels so high that I can't stay on it.

We'll see what the doc says Tuesday.

Hi Ted,

Your lab. appears to be reporting the blood glucose in mgms/dL (decilitre). If so, the normal range should be < 100, or for Type 2 diabetics, <130 (fasting). There is a strong relationship between Type 2 diabetes and HCV, and this is often aggravated by Rx. We don't use Lantus in Australia because of the side-effects. Type 2 diabetes is usually treated with metformin- type drugs.  Your doc may need to increase your dosage.  It's something to watch very carefully, as you don't want to clear HCV and end up with diabetic problems. Cheers.

Just started treatment last Thursday. I've been Type II diabetic since my first treatment with Riba and Interferon back in the 90s. My fasting level is normally around 130. I take 100 units of Lantus every day. Yesterday my fasting level was 260 and today it is 340.

I'll be at my docs office on Tuesday morning. Just wanted to know if this is a common thing.
