guys,

mallani, thanks for the water tip. prior to treatment i only had 3 liters a day and was fully sated . also i always count up  my pottassium counts which add up to about 2.5k/3k per day.

bought the cherries and cherry juice today and stopped the otc diuretics. i believe my culprit was the sodium intake! i normally only have 200 to 300 mg/day. i counted up the sodium intake in 4 atkins and 2 lite swiss nite cheese. way to much for me!!!!

will keep my dr. appt. tomorrow anyway for all that sodium even elevated my bp as well. at least i'm solving my problems w/all your wonderful advice. also don't eat pretzels when nauseated, they're full of sodium as well! 1 serving of 5 saltines only has 170 mg of sodium.

     enjoy your holiday!

Hi Sandra,

You obviously don't have gout.  Unless you love cherries (as I do), you don't need them with a normal uric acid.  Why don't you limit your water intake to 2-3 litres/day?  I only drank about 2 litres all through Rx, but that was because I was producing enough pale urine, so knew I wasn't dehydrated. You shouldn't need stuff like Diurex- it can mess up your kidneys.

Ankle swelling in common during Rx, particularly if you have varicose veins. Wear your compression stocking, and try to stay off your feet for a while. I had it, and it goes away. Cheers.

Sandy, Ow - If they don't have the fresh cherries you can use the cherry concentrate at most health food stores. Mix in water a few times a day.

Also, nettle tea rocks for the uric acid. Get thee to the local health food store. If I lived closer I'd go for you - or better yet, get your bf to go. The sooner in your system, the better for you.

Looking out for you girl K

Hey ucbgal, if you're having trouble with Gout keep this great tip in mind. If you like Black Cherries, go to the grocery store and buy a couple of pounds. Wash them good and start by eating a cup or two of the pitted fruit. Black cherries are fantastic for lowering the high uric acid level in your blood That causes Gout and the awful pain caused by it. Make a routine of eating the cherries and see how it affects the condition. Keep in mind that you don't want to overdue it. Th It will hopefully provide you with some eventual relief without having to start a new prescription. Good luck!

 greetings,

want to thank jill, bills, tonib, biggyb and jime for cheering me on. i'm on such a happy emotional roller coaster ride. i strongly believe in the support of this forum. i just hope the good news will keep on coming .

have a dr. appt w/gp re/swollen ankle, calf, knee and feet. i hope and pray it's only water retention for my uric acid is w/in range.

on day 3 when the rash bombarded me i started noticing a puffy ankle. pulled out my compression stockings for i've always had vein issues.

i'm in a good place now and will inform after dr. oh of course i'm drinking my gallon of h2o/day and the hep-c dr. told me to take the otc diurex.

Hi Sandy, really pleased for you, that`s a great result so early on in treatment!

Sorry to hear about your aches and pains though, and I believe gout is a very painful condition. hmm  I have heard of other people getting it while on tx, and it`s caused by a build up of uric acid levels in your system.  Hopefully it will ease up soon.  Did your doctor advise you to take the diuretics?

Keep going, and don`t forget...drink plenty of water!  We`re all here for you!   smile

yippee!!!! on day 9 had my 1st test reults.

     vl went from 1.2million to 170. ast/alt went from 122/195 to 62/89!!!!

my hemoglobin went from 11.2 to 10.2.

today's day 14 and am getting rash, scalp, and bathroom issues under a bit of control. with such great test resuls i almost feel like a heel complaining. my bf keeps telling me how fortunate i  am . as i'm writing this i have tears of happiness overcoming me.

unfortunately i now have the extremely sore muscle aches in both legs and swollen knees, calves, ankles and feet.

it started 5p.m. sunday, got worse yesterday and i stayed in bed all day today. am taking an otc diurex pill and tylenol.

it appears to be gout and dr. advised me to see my primary in 2days if it doesn't abate. did anyone get this side effect?

thank you everyone ofr being there for me. last nite was the lowest of lows for me. i even told my bf i wanted to quit..how sad...
