ranelle,

you are a fighter and are doing the best you can. stay strong & keep the faith. looking at your mini-chart there's improvement. my dr. always says it's just a #,it goes up&down at it's will. our viral loads evidently go through cycles.

just out of curiosity do you know your uric acid levels? unfortunately mine are going up due to the meds. my dr. said it's normal and the clinical trials show that 73% of us get this.

Hi Ranelle,

Sorry about your 4week VL, but wait until the 12 week one.  As you said, if you are Det. with a VL of > 1000 at 12 weeks, Rx is discontinued.  From the early Trials, 60-70% of patients achieve RVR (Undet. at week 4) and another 10% are undet. by week 12.  That means 70-80% of patients are Undet. at week 12, and of these, 95% go on to SVR.  However, current policy is to treat the Det. at 4 weeks for 48 weeks, rather than the 24 weeks for the eRVR's. So you've still got a good chance, but will probably do 48 weeks. Good luck!

Hi Ranelle, hang in there with the treatment as it's having an effect on your vl. My doc told me that week 12 is the defining week. Just keep on fighting and keep those positive thoughts going. Kel

I love your attitude! I have a friend who is in limbo with VL. I hope you get an answer soon. For sure your liver is getting a break right now. That is definitely good news.

Thanks everyone! Im too bullheaded to give up the fight this quickly! I would have fought tooth and nail to stay on treatment! Im wondering if my VL levels have to do with my high iron levels that I have been having. I read that iron will interfer with the interferon. I will have my iron levels rechecked at week 8. At least my levels are going down and not staying steady or increasing, guess I will take the 367,580!

I am sorry you did not get the news you were hoping for, but your chance of beating this is good.  Keep fighting!  I am thinking of you now and sending you good wishes.  Remember to take 1 day at a time, and the day will come to be HCV free!!

Hi nurschic, I've  had the same conversation with DR before and after my 4wk, 8wk and 12 wk. At 12 wk i still tested at #261 which is under 1000 and after a little bit of getting enrage, upset, disappointed and wanting to stop TX I finely understood how important it is to continual and never never give up hope. Here I am, now at wk #19 and its gotten  a whole lot better with SX and I know i can make it to where ever this TX take me. good luck and keep posting on how your TX is going.

Well..... My Dr wants to keep me on treatment and see what my 12 week labs say. He said we will make treatment decisions at that time.

I emailed my Dr to see what the action plan is. The fact sheet for incivek says that if the lab values are equal or greater then 1000 IU that SVR is unlikely and that treatment should be discontinued. I'm not really to give up this fight..... I'm just not! Guess ill just have to wait to see what my Dr has to say......

I thought I saw Malcom post some of the treatment data on Incivek here but can't find it. Just because you get a UND at 4 wks doesn't mean you won't get a viral breakthrough between 12wks and EOT  (defined as someone whose Hep C virus is detected before the end of treatment) and doesn't guarantee a SVR. Unfortunately for all of us there are no guarantees. What it could mean is your treatment may be longer according to what your Doctor decides you should do. Usually being detected at 12 wks is a major factor in treatment.

I'm on Incivek and had my 4 week VL done on the first. I'm kinda discouraged cause I did not come back UND, instead my VL is 367,580. What is the success rate of people on treatment that dont have EVR?

My Dr is awesome when it comes to getting back to me! I'm glad he didn't want to take me off treatment. He said he wanted to keep me on because I have been able to handle it so well so far, And because I had a very large drop.. The fight is still on!

Yes, I know, Ranelle, and I really didn`t want to tell you that, sorry.  See what your doctor says anyway, and let us know.  You`ll win this battle one way or another.  Best of luck...

Hi Ranelle, sorry you didn`t get the result you wanted.  i think the best thing now would be to speak to your doctor about your viral load and see what he wants you to do.  Take care, wishing you all the best. smile
