i was moving shot day by 1 day each week (from Wed to Sat) from 4th to 7th shot. No problems. Once i have injected half of interferon shot instead full. etc. Still got UND @ 8week, we will see tho for SVR. Dont sweat it much. I haven't missed single riba pill tho (was once late 3hrs). Riba accumulates in body and pegylated interferon lasts from (i think) 5-10days in the body, so it's a not that bad to miss one day

best

Yesterday I did the same thing again. I forget if I take 1 pill Riba in the evening or not. I remember I did. but I am really not sure. so I take 1. I am thinking if I already take it, then I just take 2 pills in the evening. That's not big problem

Tig,
I would do exact thing, alarm go off and forget.
There were times I would get up to take pills
And still forget. Even found them in my bed once.
I laid them down and forgot.
I stayed on too of it but it took concentration

I've been pretty good with my Pegintron, depending my schedule I have pushed my injection both up and back a day. I do I feel way better if the day after my injection I sleep in and relax that day. Doc says this is fine.

Now that I'm down to my last few days of Ribo I have to admit that I may have taken a few too many ribo on some days and not remembered. I think I will be about pills short. Guess it was better to take a few too many than a few too few.

Guess brain fog is still here missed the street for Costco today two times in a row, odd I haven there 100's of times.

Don't stress your fine. have a alarm on my Iphone for med reminder.

I truly appreciate all of the information everyone! Sounds like I'm in good (and similar) company, lol! It seems that we all experience the same issues at some point along the road to recovery. I have multiple alarms set to remind me of administration times and I didn't have a problem until this week. I have learned that even with an alarm set, even two of them, it serves no purpose if you don't get up and off your butt to take the medication! I've got to really apply myself and pay attention to these tips, tricks and alarms!

Joanne, I'm on week 8 of the Peg and Riba, week 4 of the Victrelis. It has gone fairly well compared to some but worse than others. That's something I believe we can all relate to. I can admit that the side effects are increasing for me, some in a big way. I hope that they will reduce in nature but that isn't promised by anyone! I'll find out some valuable lab information this week. Hopefully I'll discover a reason for some of these symptoms. In the meantime it's nice to have all of you here with me! Thanks!!

I have asked my husband at least 5 times today if today was Sunday..... As I'm sitting here thinking about getting ready for bed, I remembered that I haven't done my shot!!! Tonight is my shot night! Med mind sucks!! This weekend I lost my keys at least a half dozen times and asked the same questions over and over.

tig,

when i went to my training the rep told me you have a 2 day leeway w/shot and 4 hour leeway w/pills. so i guess you're good to go.

i feel the schedule of this treatment on a daily basis is unrelentless  to say the least! recently the fog set in 4me2! once i didn't know what day it was, forgot that i sent my girlfriend an e-mail and typo's on the forum. earlier i suggested a chill pill2u. i'm off the valium now and no brain fog!

Tig My Doc told me the same thing as Lucy when I asked if I could change the shot day. I started on a Wed and moved to Fridays. He said he didn't care as long as I didn't move it more than one day forward or backward per week. I needed some redundancy on Incivek. biggrin

Tig,
My mind was so foggy! Just like you
My alarm go off and I would turn it off and
Forget to take the med.
YOU ARE FINE! I forgot a dose of Invicek.
Took it few hours late.
The fog was overwhelming.
U didnt mess up your recovery at all.
I am cheering for you!
I go for my 3 month post VL Monday.
I have hope because I did all I could for 48 weeks
To achieve SVR.
You are doing good.

I messed up a few times on Incivik and the shot. Scared me at the time, but I still SVR'd. Everything seems SO very crucial right now, huh? It is. I was like you and vowed to be more careful. I don't think I messed up after the 20th week or so.

Best to ya,

Karen:)

Thanks for the support and fast responses! Ill do my best not to allow this error to happen again. After thinking about it, it does seem that due to the longer acting effects of the pegylated interferon, if you're going to forget a dose, the Peg is the one to forget. If only for a day. I wouldn't want to go beyond that though. Lucy, your information was helpful, I had never been told that before (obviously). I've got my alarms set and added one of the Rx reminders now. But like Dillo said, I may have some redundancy going on!

gatekeeper,  I use an app on my smart phone but find sometimes the regular alarm feature takes care of the reoccurring daily reminders just as good. Keeps me double protected but your only as protected as much as pay attention to them

A lot of people here probably don't use a google email but they also have an calendar that can send you pop up reminders if you are logged in or email reminders which work on android or an iPhones if you also make a gmail email address. Most smart phones will let you have more than one email address active so no need to change what you already have. ...just saying

Hi Kellie, we do have a calendar and anyone is welcome to use it, if it would help.  You have to remember to check it though, it doesn`t automatically remind you.  You`ll find it on the top right hand side of the page, below the login box...

Hi Tig, give your doc a call.smile

When I had the Incivik episode last month they put me on a medication vacation until my next doc appt the following week.

So when I took my next interferon shot it (usually taken on Tuesday pm) it was on the next day (Wednesday p.m.). the doc and np didn't really make a big deal of it. My np just said make sure you take it. so I think if I would have spaced it out until Thursday, now that would have been a problem.

So I went a whole 9 days until the next shot. - Don't freak. I think it's ok. biggrin So now I take my shot on Wednesday. I almost spaced a few shots over the last 12 weeks. I put the reminder on my phone and google calendar.

Idea! It would be cool if there was a calendar on this website or a reminder feature. Have a good day tig!

Hi Tig,

Victrelis is the one that is most important. It really needs a constant blood level to be most effective. Although 7-9 hours is given as the window, I tried to keep it exactly 8 hours apart. The Riba is less vital, as twice a day is recommended. The blood level doesn't change much, but I just found it convenient to take with Victrelis in the morning at 0630 and again with dinner at about 1900. The Peg shot should be done at a time that's easy to remember. 1900 on a Friday night seemed logical, and for those who work, it gives them the weekend to recover. I presume you have a plastic pill dispenser in the refrigerator in an obvious position. I managed 48 weeks and was 3 hours late for only one dose of Victrelis, but it's a difficult protocol to adhere to.

Thanks for the quick replies! I checked the Peg literature and it said that you can repeat the missed injection no closer than 48 hours. So I'll go back to my regularly scheduled day. I can't believe how much this has screwed up my head! My memory has turned to mush! Even with the alarms set, I find myself hearing them, shutting them off and very often will find myself still sitting there several minutes later. I then jump up and take the meds. I've never missed a dose of anything by more than 30 minutes and that has only happened a few times and it has been happening more over the last week. It seems obvious that the brain fog is really affecting me. If you Veterans here have any advice for keeping that in check, I would greatly appreciate it.

Funny how this damn brain fog is affecting my even more than my husband! Last week I could NOT FIND one week worth of Inciveck and riba!

My stress level must have reached the MAX!!!!

I would schedule the injection from now on, on Friday and make sure to set a reminder this time around!

If you go back to thurs. it will only be 6 days and maybe that is too close between injections. Definitely mention it to the Dr.

Hi Tig,

Relax, it's not a big deal. Tell your doc, and go back to either Thurs or Friday, but stick with the same day in future

I'm freaking out people!! I just woke up and realized I had misplaced an entire day! I have all of these alarms set up for my Vic and RIBA but just relied on memory for the injection. My normal day is Thursday at 1 PM. I when I realized that I had missed it this morning I took it immediately. Now what should I do? Funny thing is the pharmacy called yesterday to schedule my next delivery. She asked how many shots I had left and asked if I had missed any doses and what was my injection day! Even with all of that discussion I still missed the day. Did I blow it? Should I start my shots on Friday now or go back to Thursday? Lastly, should I report this to my doctor or pharmacy? This is brain fog in action! confuse

Hi Tig.  Don`t worry about that. At the beginning of my triple treatment, my doc told me the rule about pegsys that I can start my first shot on Tuesday then adjust the time by myself. Next week to take pegsys shot on Wed .........and next week on Thur then next week on Friday.
So to you case, your shot time is Thur, you miss it. Definitely you can do it on Friday.
keep fighting
