mena,

     you're such a loving caring wife.... i'm on day 27 and the meds are  way too powerful. here's how i finally since day3 resolved my issues.

rx ondansetron 3/day for nausea, polyrthylene glycol for bm(only use 1/2 portion/day),prilosec 3x/day,and gasx 3x/day. also i always carry

ginger ale,saltines and have the otc maalox by my bedside. this combo seems to be working thus far.

     finally i believe the mettalic taste of the meds are creating too much acid. thus i started consuming more pottasium and testing the ph balance of my saliva. in doing this i can actually sleep!!!

     hope tonight is better for angelo.

I have been reading the patients reviews for compazine! I wish I had read them before he started to take this awful medication!

He has all the symptoms of an allergic reaction to it.

Tremors, jittery feeling, unable to rest, confused, toungue hanging out. I called the Dr. on call from his hospital and I told her about his condition.

I asked, no, I actually I told her that I was going to stop giving him the compazine and that I would give him again the benadryl to try to hopefully offset the way he is feeling.  She said Ok to give him 50mg. every 8 hr. I gave it to him at 12:30 pm which will make his next dose just in time for him to take his evening pills  and hopefully be able to hold them down.

He seems to be resting  right now, maybe the benadryl.....

I get severe migraines - they run in my family.

Once I went to the hospital for a migraine and they gave me compazine.

It worked BUT I FELT LIKE SEVERAL LARGE LARGE TRUCKS DROVE OVER ME FOR TWO DAYS.

My body felt so heavy I could hardly move.

This finally wore off after three days.

Thank you for your input!  Unfortunately Angelo had again an awful night.  I don't understand how during the day the pill does not affect him the way the night dose does.  The only good thing is that he has been able to hold down his meds and not want to throw them up!

This morning he's so out of it!  Who would not be from lack of sleep!  I feel like a truck ran over me, all I had was 1/2 hr. of sleep.

I wonder if tonight instead of the compazine I can give him the bebadryl. Maybe that will make him drowsy enough to sleep a little more during the night.

Hi Mena, how is Anglelo feeling now, any better?  I`m not sure whether his symptoms would have been caused by the Compazine or not, but see how he is over the next day or so, and if you suspect it was the drug he was reacting to then avoid it in future.  Last night must have given you quite a scare anyway, good job you`re such a strong and caring woman!  smile

Mena, Hope Angelo gets better.

While on this treatment some days I have been full of energy and working doing things around my house. Some days sleep all the time lock the doors and not take calls. Went from nothing taste good enough to eat, lost 20 lbs, now close to the end I feel like eating all day.  Had a  rash and itching that came on so fast it scared me, to itching like crazy but no rash or anything to blame it on like something was crawling under my skin.  No rash at all some days and you wonder if you woke up in a totally different world. Emotional times that range from wanting to tell everyone that irritated me off or sadness and remorse in the extreme.

I did my best not to be taking hardly anything except the drugs I was on so I wouldn't mess them up during treatment except on occasion like Tylenol for my head and body aches. Vitamins to give me more energy. I don't think there are magic fixes out there and that while somethings might help one person it might not with others.

What I am saying is it's a wild ride that's hard to predict. Hang in there, he is lucky to have you in his corner. Try to get some rest when you can yourself. Your going to need it.

Hi Mena,

Personally, I would not take Compazine. Although it is a potent anti-nausea drug, it has a lot of unpleasant Sx and was initially used for bipolar disorder. Why don't you try again without any other anti-nausea drugs? During Tx, try to limit any extra drugs. Hubby's nausea should have worn off by now. Cheers.

My husband started to take Compazine for his nausea last night at about 8 pm.  During the night he could nOT sleep because he felt hot. We have CAC and it prettty low to the point that I had my comforter on. He seems to think it was from the pill!  I looked into it and nowhere did I find such a SX.

Can this be possible? He said that maybe he won't take it tonight.... hanks for any feedback!
