Meanie? LOL! I find I can keep my composure for a reasonable amount of time and then I feel that the fuse has been lit! That's my personal signal to leave the area if possible or hell may ensue. The words are always first to go south and its always the best choice to rein them in or you're going to hurt some feelings and friendships. God forbid if those same circumstances are allowed to get worse, like physical. So avoid those triggers, like the heat or irritating situations, including people. Hopefully you're able to explain what is happening to you because of the medication side effects to the people that matter most. I hope that they'll understand and support you through these times, the other people I hope you can simply leave behind. As you know already, we're always going to be right here waiting to help and listen. It's good to have a friend that's willing to let you vent. That's what makes this a great place to be!

I was doing a health IT presentation for a psychology class at a local university and several of the students were discussing ASMR triggers. Its a fancy new name for something most people have experienced at some time.

Its usually auditory or tactile triggers than put you in a very relaxed almost hypnotic state.

First time I experienced was one of my very first girlfriends would draw pictures on my back with her finger and talk about her day. The sensation and her vocal tone would put me in this odd relaxed, trance zone in a matter of seconds. Some get the response from having their hair brushed, sound of newspaper pages turning or even eye exams.

Fancy name for that is ASMR: Autonomous sensory meridian response

There are only a handful of the youtube videos that elicit that reaction in me, some people don't get a response from any videos. Some videos are certainly annoying, but the ones that work for me work pretty reliably.

Hey Bob, maybe it was what she said that put you to sleep? Has it been that long since a woman whispered sweet nothing's in your ear? Good luck buddy!

I laid out in the sun for the 1st time and got a really bad reaction.

The rash on my legs quadrupled plus more itching for about a week, then it calmed down.

No sun or heat for me! I wish this heat wave would subside.

Riba rage, remember it well. Serenity prayer worked for me, and a quiet room.

Yesterday was the first day that I really worked in the heat and sunlight. Although it made me very tired and worn out, yesterday was the first day that I got really irritable and blew up of very small things.  I had to take a deep breath, close my eyes and remove myself from my family for a bit. I love summer and the heat..it really sucks that I cant be out and enjoying the weather. Guess I have to stay inside today since its gonna be even hotter today :(

Ill have to check out the ASMR videos...

I couldn't tolerate sunlight as it hurt my eyes.
I live in the South (USA)! It gets hot.
I avoided sun and sunlight.
I stayed cold though...maybe from drinking
So much water.
Hang in there as adjusting to medicine can
Be very irritating. After few months I embraced
It better. I accepted a sedentary lifestyle.
Building for ya and this forum will
Give you lots of support!

Yep! That stuff can and does pack a wallop. You unfortunately discovered what heat and the subsequent effects it can cause. Here in south Florida, the heat is brutal and never ending. My life is structured around avoiding the hottest parts of the day and assuring my air conditioning is in top working order! It doesn't take more than a few minutes in the direct sun and heat to get me so dizzy and light headed that I start to "white out". I have to sit down or go down on a knee or I'll fall down. So I avoid the heat like the plague! You've already learned some valuable Riba Rage avoidance techniques and it seems as though we'll be wise to stay ready for the next time. Hang in there and stay cool!

4 weeks in and my current struggle has been with the "riba rage." So far only 2 or 3 episodes, but these "feelings" are completely new to me. I'm always the easy going guy that's kinda charming and witty; I always manage to keep a good front and can calmly deal with stress.

Made the mistake of stepping out with the smokers for a social chat at work around 4pm today in the 100+ degree. 10 minutes of that and my conversation was getting short and a bit inflammatory. I counted to 10 and excused my self and went back to my office.

I ended up getting really dizzy and confused from the heat and forgot where I was for a minute. When I regained sense of my surroundings I was ready to kick kittens. I got angry for being out in the heat when I knew better, I got angry for getting angry and in an outburst of frustration I kicked my briefcase/laptop bag and sent my pill caddy flying, spreading a weeks worth of pills all over my office floor.

Counted to 10 again and turned away from the "situation" I caused and found some very calming ASMR videos on youtube that calmed me in about 30 seconds.

Found all my pills. Life is good again. Lesson learned. Riba is a helluva drug.

Be very careful in the heat folks.

*** TIP ***The ASMR videos were a good find on youtube...very calming and I have them on at night as they put me right out.****
