jill,

thank you for your kind words, knowledge and excellent advice! today is basically the 1st day i can say i'm breathing better and i did 10 minutes of exercise for 2 straight days. i actually even feel hungry which means i'm healing and my metabolism is picking up!!!

today i reread your post and can now fully comprehend it. yes i believe i can still mantain my und w/a 2week stoppage of ribo. also due to my never ending quest for knowledge i called the pegasys hotline. there is a chart, table 2, that all drs. must abide by for hemo and riba dosage. reading it was an eye opener. i should have been cut off on 7/17/13 to 0 mg due to hemo. according to the chart if your hemo is 8.5 to 10.0 you can take 600 mg. of ribo. my dr. is on vaca, will see him next monday, and will start w/1 or 2 ribos tomorrow despite his advice. also i will be continuing w/procrit and next shot is this thursday. thus i feel cofident in mantaining my hemo levels.

then i spoke to the pharmacist regarding red blood cells&procrit. i believe i solved my high triglycerides. if you don't have enough oxygen the blood cant flow properly, thus clogging your arteries. the amalyse serum is still a mystery to me. what ever,i say hep-c  you can't have me!!!! in hospital at one point i told the nurse i would eat a plate of live worms if need be! finally this forum,my friends,my bf and my 2 loving aunts have given me all the support i need. be well and live each hepc free day vivascously!

Hi Sandy, you`ve been having a rough time of it then, and thank goodness you sought urgent medical attention!

The procrit should certainly help get your Hb gets back up, although I believe it can take a week or so to start taking effect.  Do you know if your doctor will be continuing with the procrit injections?  As for the ribavirin, we have had several members who have had dose reductions for part of their tx, and I do know of one member who had to stop it completely for 2 weeks and still went on to achieve SVR.  Riba has a long half life and so stays in your system for longer than the other drugs, which is why women are advised in the patient info leaflet to make sure they avoid getting pregnant for the first six months after the end of treatment.  Hopefully you won`t have to be off it for long anyway.

Not sure about your amalyse serum level or why your trigcycerides have risen so much, but Malcolm should be able to give your more info when he`s around next, and your doctor should be able to explain what`s going on.

I think the best thing would be to trust your doctor and follow his advice, in the meantime get as much rest as you can till you start feeling better.

Keep us updated, won`t you.  Take care.  smile

greetings,

just got back from hospital last night and hemoglobin went from 6.0 on tuesday to 8.7 on thursday w/2 bags of blood. wow i feel alive! at least i was smart enough to go to the er when my pulse was 110 and still hadn't gotten back my 7/26 labs.

right before i left hospital my dr. gave me a shot of procrit and have to stop ribo until hemo gets to 10. he said this won't affect my still und

results,i beg to differ. any/all advice would be greatly appreciated.

also, now my amalyse serum is 197 but started treatment w/normal counts. they did a band test which came back normal,so it's not my pancreas. any thoughts on this?

in addition prior to treatment my triglycerides were 74 and have now risen to 155! should i attribute this to the 60 grams of fat that must be wreaking havoc on my liver? most ofmy fat comes from olive oil, coconut oil,and 1 serving of fatty cheese/day.

the great news is my uric acid levels  and creatine levels are now normal and iron saturation lowered! i'm still in it to win it and  have my boxing gloves ready&waiting!!!
