Thanks Greg! I looked through the threads here and it appears many of us on Tx share some thyroid complications during and after. But it seems the consensus is we most often recover from the various maladies! Either in time, with and without medication. Hopefully this will be just what some have said and it will be a temporary blip on my thyroid radar! Thankfully it is controllable and I'm looking forward to that!

Hi lozeaujo and Tig56,

Saw your post and thought I drop by and point you to a thread about this little gift some of us get from tx.

http://hepcfriends.activeboard.com/t50602106/thyroid-problems-after-treatment-graves-disease/

Thyroid problems do happen while on tx but thankfully once treated it goes back to normal. I was taking Neo Mercazole for this problem and was told it would take about 18 months for my Thyroid to get back to normal. But being a good little boy scout that I am, it was all back to normal just after 6 months. We had to play with a couple of dose amounts some were raising my levels too high and some were too low till we hit the right dose and bingo all good. This will depend on the individual of course. So take heart that it will be get back to normal and god yes I felt like **** before getting it sorted.

Good Luck,
Greg

I just found out from my nurse that my thyroid levels are abnormal, wouldn't say how abnormal though. I had called to find out about precautions I need to take regarding some dental problems and my doctor is out of town again so she's asking his stand in on that. But then she mentions the thyroid trouble and is concerned. I hate it when they do that! If they don't know anything, sometimes it's best to wait to release information like that. It might explain some of the fatigue and weight loss. I don't know, any thoughts?

Hi Joe, it`s not unusual for thyroid levels to fluctuate while on treatment, and it`s caused by the interferon.  Your doctor is monitoring it and if necessary will prescribe drugs to keep it under control.  It`s most likely to return to normal levels after you`ve finished your treatment.

Sounds like you`re suffering with fatigue quite badly, but being in a good state of mind is great, it`s something a lot of people struggle with while on treatment.

Take care, and keep us updated!

My thyroid is now at 3.08 which is a drastic rise since begining of hep c treatment.. Has anyone else had a high thyroid during treatment, but level back out later.. Since I started treatment Ive been a couch potato and am wondering if maybe this has something to do with it?... Maybe I should be more active...

Anyways.. My mind is doing treatment great, but my body seems to be falling apart with this treatment..
