Thank you for positive wishes, I actually think I am on the following trial which is phase 3, Pearl 1V, purpose of the study is to evaluate the need for Ribavirin or not with the combo of other drugs that Abbvie are using. The Phase 2 trials outlined that it was marginal whether Ribavirin supported significantly more SVR's and Abbive are looking into which groups may be able to not include Ribavirin in their treatment.

Within my treatment plan I am almost sure i got the Riba as I have suffered some significant weakness and fatigue, however have not needed to alter my dosage at any point. In fact Abbvie ensure that the hospital staff are blind to your Ribavirin intake, however everyone on the trial does receive the other combination of drugs.

In response to another article i saw on this site about Fibroscan scoring and its value. I would like to point out a concern that I have that medical staff do not instruct patients to not eat some hours before the scan which I believe significantly distorts the outcomes. I go nil by mouth on the day of a scan and and it has led to my scores being just above the normal range rather than being in the F2/F3 range. Each time I have eaten on the day of a scan I have had higher scores, I really think it is something that should become part of protocol for recieving Scans, but never seems to get much airplay

I have one more week to go on the trial and then Im on the edge of the promised land. My plan is to raise SVR probability by taking some of the minerals and vitamins i took pre trial like high dosages of Vit D, Liquid Zinc, B Complex, Vit C and small amounts of iodine . Quietly confident at this stage.

From the description of your side effects it does seem likely that you are getting Ribavirin, and it will be interesting to find out for certain.

I read the article about food consumption leading to a distortion in Fibroscan readings too, and I think you have a good point.  I`m surprised this isn`t taken into account as part of the routine procedure.

Hi Stuart, welcome!  You`re the first person here to be on the Pearl trial, although we have members on other Abbvie trials.

Congrats on such a fantastic 2 wk UND viral load result, how amazing for you after so many years!  These are certainly powerful drugs and the side effects don`t seem too bad compared with the current treatment regimes.  Which arm are you on, do you know?

Is anyone doing  the Pearl trial conducted by Abbvie in Plymouth uk, I have nearly completed 12weeks with the placebo potential only applicable to the ribavirin arm. I have felt very tired and weak at times, however that is the worst of the side effects, so manageable.

I went und after 2weeks, so hoping for a SVR. I will joyous to relief myself of this virus after 30 years
