Hi Karen   Yes my own doctor gave me Ativan to reduce my stress and because it is metabolised by the kidneys and not the liver. But a short while ago I used to much and smacked my head so my daughters were scared and I wont use much but just got some sleeping pills from the hep and am scared to use them after the first incident. That darn Riba seems to go on and off and some days I am fine and others not so.. But I have it down to the sleep because the anxiety and stress all become a factor when I lack sleep so I may need to use the sleeping pills to get through the last five weeks. I told my team that this was my last year but then after thinking I realized that even after this treatment is all over I should continue to play so I can try and get my liver to regenerate as much as possible. I am hoping that after the treatment I can have another fibro scan to see how much if any it has improved. The nice thing about this forum is getting to talk to all you nice people because every time I get off it I have that smile back on again. You are all so supportive and that really means a lot to me.  I don't know of any place where you can talk to people from all over the world that are all pulling for the same cause. Take care Karen

Terry - This may be the opposite of what you are used to, but a sleep aid can be helpful. I had to use one on treatment or I would not have been able to get up for work. Have you talked to your doctor about it?

You sound great! The riba will wear on you. I'm so glad you are able to stay active. It helps!

xo Karen:)

Thanks Mallani and Matt I just need reassurance sometimes to get through this. Mallani when I was in elementary school they measured us in pounds and by the time I left high school we were into kilograms. I tell my kids that I know what 70 degrees feels like ha ha . We were in our year end tournament for slo-pitch and the anxiety got a little much so I took a half a tab of Ativan and then hit a home run right after and that had a lot of then laughing because the rest are 30-40 and I'm 58 .lol I know the riba is the cause of this but that only becomes an issue with the lack of sleep so I am trying different was to combat that. I wont go for a reduction I just need to find a way to get more sleep.

Hi Terry,

Over here, you're 82 kg. I was 79 kg at SOT and took 1,200 mgms for 48 weeks. I know that doesn't help, but you're on the correct dose. As for sport, forget it for a while but exercise as much as you can. If your Hb is over 10, don't consider a dose reduction with cirrhosis. It's tough as Matt said, but the end result is worth some crappy weeks. Cheers.

Hi Terry

Sorry to hear about your week. Some weeks are worse than others but that happens whether we are on treatment or not. Ribavirin can cause issues that is without a doubt but unless your Hemo. is super low I would not recommend reducing your dose. There was a article about lower Ribavirin saturation level with relapsing that I posted last week you should read it. I know how it can be wearing but you will be through your weeks before you know it.

Terry hang in there I know you can handle it.

Matt

I have just gone through the worst week yet. Both work and sports are stressful and I have had to take Ativan and the occasional sleeping pill to combat the side effects of the 1200 mg of this stuff I take. I see guys 240-250 taking that amount but I am only 180 lbs and this stuff is wearing on me really bad now. Any help would be appreciated.
