That's so true Matt. This s my third try at dragon slaying since 1999. There is no doubt that I suffer from a few abnormalities from a bad liver over the 40 year span since I had it.

After the second treatment this time lasting 72 weeks of hell I was hired to create a manual on The facts of HCV called Pears to Professionals. This manual has been used provincially to teach the Heath professional at every hospital and clinic in Manitoba. I also help create and implement the Train the Trainer manual for those speaking professionals to present the Peers to Professional. I was also elected to be the director of education for the Manitoba Harm reduction network. I decided to retire from teaching and work for the Government  in their Harm Reduction Network. So I could certainly agree that changing our mind set is no easy task but having accurate knowledge and believing, trusting in it can make it happen and change our outlook. Our greatest enemy is dealing with the stigmatize and the depression. these can be so debilitating.

daddysgirl,

just read all your posts and am so sorry you have so much stress and the nausea. 2 weeks prior to the beginning of my treatment i was in full blown out panic mode. come to think of it my appetite just wasn't there. i highly recommend leaving ginger ale bottles scattered about the house along with saltines. i also used sugar free tums and prilosec as well.

when you 1st find out you have the disease it's overwhelming to say the least and setting up treatment isn't a piece of cake either. i do know that joining this forum and reconnecting w/my therapist has been a lifesaver for me. try to make at least 1 part of the day where you can de-stress.

you are blessed w/ a loving hubby and 3 children who love you unconditionally! be well and stay strong!

Thank you everyone, I know it probably has to do with my frame of mind, I guess the shock is wearing off and reality is setting in, I'm going to call my Gp on Mon, I also have to see a hemo doc this week and get a heart test done due to fast heart rate at rest. I think there is more going on then just the HCV. I also need something for the rashes i keep getting. I 'm going to need help with nutrition before and If I treat. I can't afford to lose anymore weight. Love and Prayers to you all.

Yes, 1 of the wonderful side effects of this treatment, There are several things you can do for it. There is a nausea drug that the proscribe to chemo treatment patience . It stops the vomiting, how good it is for the nausea. I have no idea. Over the counter drugs are not covered under our drug plan but ask your doctor (if you can see one) to write a prescription for anything that is over the counter and it will become a tax deduction, that goes for any over the counter drugs. Gravel may help you a lot. There is a generic name that in come and can be filled by the pharmacist. 50 tablets cost me $3.39. out of pocket. I use these at sleep time. Here in Canada we don't have to deal with insurance companies rules on alliterative medicines .The problems that I read about and the insanity by many Americans face tying to get the help you need to treat the side effect problems from your GP or Liver specialist or N.P.

I totally understand how you feel. Good Luck and I send my good vibes your way. God bless and hang in there and slay that dragon.

Hi Girl - Have you touched base with the dr. that gave you the ad meds? He should know about the sx and he may refer you to someone you can talk to face to face about your fears and anxiety. I wish the best for you

I have been having nausea for the past few months, but has gotten worse in theo last month. Nothing seems to help and I'm getting weaker, my husband is no help whatsoever. I don't know what to do, I don't have anyone to help me around the house or make meals. My husband leaves every chance he gets, I feel as though I am going to vomit everytime I smell food. I don't know where to seek help at my Aunt lives 1,600 miles away. I haven't told my sister in laws yet, because I know they will forsake me. I am alone in this and I can't do anything about it. I'm on depression meds but they are not helping. All i do is pray.

Hi again Babette, yes you`re right, you need to nurture yourself and get stronger before you start tx, and you`re doing the right thing by calling your GP, I`m quite sure.  You`re bound to be feeling anxious right now but it sounds like you may well have other health issues going on and it really is best to get all your symptoms looked at and checked out.  As a wife and mum it`s often easy to put your own needs on hold, but now`s the time to focus on your own well-being so you can have a happy and healthy future.  It`s what you need and it will also be the best thing for you family too.

You`ll get through this, just believe in yourself and your strong spirit!  smile

Hello Jack and Daddysgirl

Jack thanks for providing that info for on treatment nausea but daddy's girl is not on treatment yet.

daddysgirl am sorry about your ongoing battle with nausea, you may have some physical issue other that HCV causing your discomfort.

Also sometimes stress, anxiety and our mind set can cause physical reaction in our body. Changing our mind set is no easy task but having accurate knowledge and believing, trusting in it can make it happen and change our outlook. Also if we keep on dwelling on our problem it's like a black hole that is hard to emerge from. Find away the break away from those thoughts, one of the best ways is to help someone else that needs help also. It helps to put our own situation in perspective.

Also the foods we choose to eat can effect our moods, so make good healthy choices as well.

Hoping the best for you.

Matt

Hi,

the reason can be hcv, but must not be. You should go to the internist, I hope it is possible for you.

best wishes

Hi Babette, sorry you`re feeling so sick, how long have you been suffering from nausea and losing weight?  Hep C, among other things, can cause nausea, and maybe the shock of the diagnosis is making it worse too.  If this is an ongoing problem then maybe you should speak to your doctor, if you haven`t already done so.

In the meantime, some things that might help to ease the nausea include sipping ginger or peppermint tea, sucking ginger candies, nibbling dry biscuits or crackers.  Try to eat very small regular amounts of whatever you fancy eating.  You can get `over the counter` remedies for nausea or maybe your doctor could prescribe something to help.

Please do try to find ways to relax and be kind to yourself, it`s important for your well-being!   Take care, I hope it eases up soon.
