I am having the same issue.

Except the tattoo I want covered is the reason I have Hep C.
I can't hardly look at it without some emotion popping up.

I have decided to wait until after treatment to have it fixed-kind of like a celebratory "got-it-over-with" thing.
And naturally I will not be going to the same parlor that gave me hepatitis (which I believe was re-using ink) ;)

I'd wait because treatment comes first. Now a little advise on tats and life. You will always know what the original tat was and why you got it. Covering it will not change that so your not going to forget about that person or that part of your life. What you can do is cover or what ever and put it behind you. I'm 60 and have LOTS of tats. My body is like a comic book of bad memories for the most part  (not all). When I look at them they remind me of where I've been and the mistakes I've made. Forgetting puts you at risk of making those mistakes over.

Good luck to you.

Ya, You can't argue with good logic. Before or after certainly makes the best sense.

I agree that if you're going to do it the time to do it is before you start treatment or at least a year after you finish. Once the anemia sets in and it will, your WBC (White Blood Cells) will go down and the risk of infection is much higher. I'm seeing significant weight loss and I'm noticing changes in the tatts I have already. Good luck!

Hi Hillary, I can understand you wanting to change your tattoo at this point, treatment is a time when you need peace and calm in your life, and a bad memory can weigh you down.  Just be aware that your skin will probably take longer to heal while you`re on treatment, and you`re likely to be more at risk of infection.  It`s your decision though, and it all depends on how important it is to your peace of mind to have the procedure done sooner rather than later.

Best of luck if you decide to go ahead, and keep us posted.  smile

I have this tattoo- an awful reminder or a person and time I'd much rather forget- so I have been wanting to just have it touched up and maybe a color change so it's just a little different. So I'm wondering if I should wait until after tx or if I'd be fine to have it fixed now?? Anyone know? Or have any input? I'd appreciate it smile

I don't think it would mater much as you already know what the pain is like from getting the tat. Just be sure your artist understands you have a BBP and proper cleaning of his tools and equipment. I'd go for it if it would make you the least bit happy. I'm at week 47 tonight with the Victrelis triple combo and there are way to many days that I could not walk more than 50 feet, make food to eat and did a lot of vomiting from trying to do 20 mins of mild labour. I hope you have daily support and a income stream to carry you through what might be the hardest time in your life. Your young age may help you fair better than most of us old goats that are near retirement and little liver left that works. A full water bottle is your friend that needs to be with you at all times. God bless you child and I will pray to all the gods that you make SVR.
