Hi Scruffy, Most likely it is the Riba and the Incivek doesn't help. I was anemic all through out tx. Never got a transfusion but I did get a lot of procrit. It can take 2 to 4 weeks after a shot to bring your HGB back up. I was getting a shot sometimes every week sometimes every two weeks.

Hang in there. If you were UND at 4 wks you most likely still are.

I hear what you are saying and I was on the other treatment for 48 weeks was on the same boaster and ha three blood transfusions, I found for me other than the blood work that if I hear a sound like the ocean in my ears I was getting down a coupe of bags and would try to slow down until the result came back, six weeks post treatment and blood went from 80 to140 so you will recover, keep that in mind, it helped me mentally

Hi Scruffy, you`re certainly having a rough time of it, and must be feeling pretty exhausted with those low Hb levels.  Anyway, you`re getting through it and things should start to get easier soon, once the procrit kicks in and you come to the end of the incivek.

If you type 20g fat into the search box at the top of the page you`ll see a list of threads containing lots of different ideas and tips that other members have shared.  It could give you some fresh ideas for your last week on incivek!

Wishing you all the best of luck with your next vl test, it`s looking promising for you.  Keep us posted.

Hi Scruffy,

The Riba must be knocking your Hb around. Hope the Procrit helps. You should stay Undetected at the 12 week VL and hopefully life will be easier after the Incivek is finished. Good luck.

Well here I am in the middle of week 11. I had to transfuse again. Last time was at week 7. When I left the Hos. back then my red cells where 9.4 not great but better than they were 7.4. In the mean time my Doc had to order and get my procrit ok'ed. That took untill week 10. So by then I was a little low for the procrit to work its full magic. 8.4. This week, week 11 he gave me my second shot and sent me to transfuse 7.9. So i must be like 9.9 after 2 units. I hope it gets better after I get to dump the incivek next Friday. Week of the 21st will be my next blood test. I was undetectable at week 4, test they used was under 5 not 43 :) :) At least this trans only took 4hrs better than the first through the ER were I had to pull an over nighter.

Best wished for all.

ps at week 11 even little Debbie snacks and Hangen ice cream are getting OLD.
