Hi Kristi

Another Canuck here and feeling for you. Don't put pressure on yourself just because it's Thanksgiving.  These holidays come every year and if you miss one to get your health back I am sure everyone will understand. I did not do the same treatment as you but if you are taking that Riba then that is stressful enough on it's own.

I had a lot of stress towards the end of my treatment and it was a real struggle at times to focus but received my tests this week EOT and am still UND so I don't think it will be an issue with your results. Just try and remain calm. Take care ! Terry

Thank you for the advice and relating to the side effects of this tx. Also, for relating to having to postpone any travel plans until the EOT. I feel really fatigued everyday. The weather has been beautiful all week, but I have spent most of the week inside sitting on the couch or lying down in my bed trying to sleep. I find it can be quite depressing when everyday seems the same and knowing I could have another 38wks of feeling like this.disbelief I'm trying to think positive though, that it all will be well worth it at the endsmile. But, it's a rough go!!!

Hi Kristi, I had low grade fevers (99.5-100 F) occasionally for the first two months but they stopped and I haven't had any more problems with them. I have to add that the only time I got them was during the first 24 hour period following the Interferon injection. I took some ibuprofen a couple times when I got achey along with it and that helped both.

I had to curtail all of my travel while I've been on treatment for many of the same reasons. This Tx causes issues that have to be addressed in the best way for you first and then consideration for others. It's not easy and you will be fatigued, ill occasionally and stress can affect you negatively, avoid it if possible. You'll adjust to many of the side effects but some will plague you through Tx. If taking a nap helps, do it. I've found a new appreciation for my big chair! Nobody messes with the "Chair "!!

Let those close to you know how you feel and explain to them how these meds affect you and what they can do to help you deal with the side effects of them. Let them read some of the other people's stories here and it should help them understand what you're going through on a daily basis. Your daughter's children at those ages are a handful at any time, now especially. Once they understand how you're affected by this, they will hopefully understand why you're not up for that kind of constant activity.  It's not easy and you have to take care of yourself, that's very important! Best of luck!

Hi there Krisit6,

Sorry to hear you've got a lot on your plate at the moment whilst on treatment.

With regard to the fever, my husband did 48 weeks of triple therapy and he definitely had fever on and off throughout.  Tell your specialist in any case, but from our experience it was chalked up to side-effects.  We also had a long term commitment about 8 weeks into treatment which was a long drive from home which needed to be cancelled at the last minute as it just was not doable on treatment.  Try not to be too hard on yourself.  I'm sure your family will accommodate your changed circumstances whilst on treatment.  Perhaps you may not be able to visit down south until you've finished treatment, but I would encourage you to take your best shot with treatment and be kind to yourself.  Be strong and know that we are here for you at the forum.  Caroline

Hi, I just had my 10th shot on Wednesday night. This time I had alot fever. It started Thurs. morning and again Thurs night about 6pm and lasted basically all night till Fri. morning. I took 2 tylenol extra strength a few times, but only gave minor relief. I spent 16hrs in bed, except to eat something and take my pills. Today, I feel really weak and tired. I am still waiting for my 8wk results, which should be in by the end of next week. It takes about 2 wks here in Canada. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, I feel guilty because I was supposed to take a trip to southern Ontario to my daughter's for Thanksgiving Wknd this weekend. Here in Canada it is thanksgiving. I was supposed to drive 617km/384 miles 7 1/2 hrs. I was supposed to go with my daughter who lives in the same city as me and take her, my 9 yr old grandson and 5wk old granddaughter. My daughter down south has 2 boys 4yrs and 2 1/2. She is very anxious to meet her new little niece. I cancelled the trip as I was afraid of how I would feel after my shot Wed and I figured the long drive for me would be stressful and I would be certainly wiped out after. My daughter here does not drive. I'm thinking I might not be able to go down south for a year while on this treatmentcry Also, there's some heavy stress going on with my daughter who just had a baby and it affects me alot. I'm trying to concentrate on my treatment and get better, but this stress effects me alot. Will stress and worry have a negative impact on my prognosis with treatment?
