This is good news indeed. My doctor was right about time scales as well. I start treatment in March but it has been a long wait! I can't imagine how some of you feel waiting so many years to be rid of it, or still waiting! I am sorry for those that will lose thier lives waiting for approvals, it is not a nice thought!

Hey suziQ

Saw that also , the Gilead stock jumped nearly 4 Points with this news.

Interesting that the E.U. jumped right on the Sofosbuvir band wagon, actually its a no brainier when you think about all the great results that have been repeated over and over again without side effects.

It really makes me wonder why its takes so long to approve such a well documented drug, their must be a lot more to the process having to do with monetary, political and distribution than we are aware of.

I hope with these shorter trial times of 8-12 weeks that would allow for much faster incubation period. Then new HCV drugs like Mercks, and Gileads Single combo pill could come to market in a much faster time frame. I for one think that once the track record in larger trials studies (Phase III) are positively established they should file for approval. I have several basis for this (1) The current SOC is near barbaric (2) The new DAA's need all the competition they can get so price can modulate. (3) There is a hidden Pandemic worldwide.

Just read this on European drug approvals.  Might be of interest to Zlikster and Lisa and others in Europe.

I think it is the prospect of 6 months for me. I was hoping for 3 and now its 6, I could have finished treatment now already, to find there is no difference in time scale. It is about a 10% difference, which is not much I agree, but the time scale is a lot different.

I will take anything on offer that is less SX to be fair.

It is good to hear they will be on your doorstep too! So pleased for you! :D

I think you will be fine with SOF+RBV for 6 months. 3 months results ain't that great. As for interferon added to it, i did not see big difference in GT3 results? Seems Riba is a bit more important than Peg for GT3.

My hepa will try to get me some SOF from Gilead as a sample/test and i will be her lab bunny ;) (<3 my hepa)

Boceprevir/Telaprevir is supposed to arrive here maybe next year. Price will be round 55k$. She thinks price for SOF will be much higher when it gets to market here.

best

I was thinking today about the data for Genotype 3 non-responders using Sofosbuvir, Ribaviren, and Interferon. It was 90% plus. This was only a three month treatment plan. Shouldn't this be a first option for treatment naive as this is a very high percentage and a shorter treatment time compared to 6 month all oral? I think even with my hate of needles I would prefer to do 3 month treatment than 6 month! I wonder why they have not tried this with treatment naive and why this is not considered? I know a lot of people want the all oral, but our treatment time scale remains the same, so it is still 6 months off strong medication in our bodies which is really a long time to me. I was hoping for 12 weeks and it was done.....
