I have been of tx since November, as a non responder, and my hair is just not the same, its thin and I have a couple of bald spots....and yes I bought a wig, but for now its freezing out, so I wear hats....I am thinking that being cured may have something to do with the return of hair?

It's the medicine causing hair loss;
Nothing you do is going to stop or cause it to
Be worse. Some people experience more
Loss than others. I lost ALOT!
I wore a wig or hat in public.
It has all grown back; I stopped
Coloring it while on tx and I am very
Grey and decided at the age of 54
I shall leave it natural! After 48 weeks
Of tx I prefer to simplify my life. I do need to
Change my avatar.
Remember this to shall pass. Hair may need
To be cut shorter till it fills back in.

My husband also experienced hair loss.  Our nurse kept telling us that any hair that he was losing due to the treatment would indeed grow back.  He is 6mth post now and has had hair grow back - so at least that is encouraging in the long term.  I wish there was something in the short term, but it seems options are limited.  All the best as you go through the remainder of your treatment.  Caroline

Thanks for all your suggestions. It is very annoying!!! I have strands of hair everywhere! I've been keeping it in a loose braid, but there's no stopping it from falling out. Just have to hope I don't lose it all and that it grows back good.

Good luck starting your new treatment. I hope it goes better for you. I have 5 months left on the triple tx.

Keep in touch and let me know how its going for you!smile

Yes, I just finished up Ribaviran & Interferon and I lost about 75% of my long, thick, beautiful hair! Its not even just an image thing, its annoying because the hair is all over the house! In the carpet, all over my bed, in our food, tangled around my toes lol....got pretty annoying. I actually came on this site today to look for suggestions on how to help it grow back faster. Someone has suggested Biotin, and I found it on Amazon. It has great reviews, but unsure if it will make any difference since I am about to start the new treatment, Ribaviran with Sovaldi on Tuesday. Still learning about it but I'm sure it cannot hurt to try! Laura, I hope I have the same end result as you, and it grows back even nicer than it was before! I will NEVER complain about having thick hair again!! :)

Kristi, my only suggestion to you is to stop wearing it up. I am pretty sure that keeping mine tied back during the summer months only helped it break off even more, so I have a lot of broken strands that stick straight up on the top of my head, but I understand that sometimes its necessary when cooking and stuff. Good Luck!!! :)

Hi, Thank you everyone for your suggestions. That would be a bonus if my hair comes back the same or even better. Something to try and hope for! It'll  make coping with the hair loss abit more tolerable. I find it's coming out more and more each week. I remember a friend of mine went through radiation and the dr recommended he use baby shampoo. So, I went and borrowed a bottle from my 4mon old granddaughter!smile This tx must be pretty powerful to make your hair  fall out!!! Oh well, as long as it hopefully works! It will all be worth it!!!

When I was on interferon and ribaviran in 1999 ALL OF MY HAIR fell out.

As soon as the hep C doc took me off it my hair started growing.

My hair was a beautiful black (before it started turning white) and very thick and the good news is that it grew back in BEAUTIFULLY and with a slight very pretty curl. When this happened people asked me what I did to my hair, tee hee..but at least something positive came out fo the interferon (ugh!) besides the daily migraines, etc.

kristi,

I experienced the same thing during my triple therapy with the same drugs.  Hair kept falling out and became very thin.  Been off treatment now for about 6 wks and I have started to notice my hair is not falling out anymore at that rate.  It did not grow much during treatment.  In fact, it already seems thicker though not back to pre-tx.  My scalp has been itching a little in various places, and I am imagining returning new growth happening in those places.  I hope you just can go with the flow and you might have to change your style, though in my experience - at least so far - it is tolerable and it will grow back.

Good luck with your treatment - it will work this time and you will be free of the virus and it will all seem like a bad dream.  You can do it.

Bill

Hi Everyone,

I'm still hanging in there! I'm on 22wks of triple tx with peg, victrelis and ribavirin. My tx is for 48 wks. I have been experiencing alot of hair loss. I normally have very thick and long hair. I keep it up or tied back all the time, but it is still falling out from the top and sides. I constantly have strands on my arms etc. I have been scared to wash it as when it is wet it breaks easier. I have been using dry shampoo when I go out. I am getting a receding hairline near my temples. Help!!! Does anyone have any suggestions?
