Hey longld

I understand the feeling and almost the responsibility of being helpful to the less fortunate it really is not a new issue, just read this passage from the Bible from 2000 years ago when Paul was trying to reason on the subject.

"13 For I do not want to make it easy for others, but difficult for you; 14 but that by means of an equalizing, your surplus at the present time might offset their need, so that their surplus might also offset your deficiency, that there may be an equalizing. 15 Just as it is written: The person with much did not have too much, and the person with little did not have too little.  from the 2nd letter wrote to the Corinthians

Gilead is doing what it already did with HIV drugs so no surprise here.   They are in a no-win situation here; no matter what they do, they will be perceived of as evil while providing a miracle - needed treatment for millions of patients.  In the end, patients in the US and to a lessor extent the UK and Germany, will be subsidizing the lower treatment costs in third world countries like many times before.  Maybe this is the best model.......?

I just wish our President would use this as an example when he keeps telling businesses (read Greedy) and rich people (more greedy) that we are unfair to the less fortunate......

woa...i didn't expect this soon for Gilead to start messing with pricing and 3rd world markets pricing. Ha, competition fear or just trying to look "less evil"? :)

Gilead stock sinks on lack of 2014 profit forecast. Really? Can you imagine the bonus the CEO will make this year? no

Also, here's Sovaldi in the proverbial FDA "nutshell"....

I saw mention of that a few days ago and failed to get the link. The Chinese have Gilead worried too. I spoke with a fellow in India and the word there was the possibility of a $250.00 generic (misinterpreted number?), which seems unlikely but we can hope. (12 week course). I'd be concerned with the QC but I'm certain it's the only reason Gilead is even considering the possibility prior to their patent expiring. Whatever it takes! These price reductions provide hope for a lot of people around the world in locations that have no options or very few at all. This is very good news! Hey, do you think they'll offer a coupon program for their generic, lol! Good stuff!
