So I am now into week 20 of 24, and while the other sides have subsided or been eliminated, the rage, rages on. I find that /I don't even know who I am at times. The least little thing now sets me off. As I sat in church today, I asked God to help me because I don't even want to be around me. /I have mostly been a gentle and patient soul, but now...forget it. I have very little patience. I don't know how many customer service people I have hung up on. On top of all of this, I am going back and forth from NY to SC to care for my mother and applying to grad school.  I will be moving down there in a couple of weeks. I know that I will need to set up support system when I get there. Plenty of AA and Al-anon. Please pray for me and I will pray for us.

Hi RC,

Yes, it can be quite a shock to experience full on riba rage for the first time, and you did well to spot what was happening!  It`s a very common side effect from ribavirin and for me it was one of the most difficult things to deal with while on tx.  I felt as though I was turning into a different person, and a person I didn`t actually like very much!  I did have to explain to a couple of friends just why I`d overreacted to certain situations and luckily they understood and cut me some slack.  If people around you understand that it`s the drugs and not you then if makes it easier for everyone concerned.

I found that cutting out as much unnecessary stress from my daily life as possible helped as well as avoiding certain situations, as Tig mentioned.  Go easy on yourself and remember...it`s only temporary!  smile

Hi RC,

Hey brother, good job recognizing it! It happens so quick, it can scare you sometimes. It was a problem I dealt with for most of my treatment period and I still find myself having to bite my tongue. That's after 3 months! They claim it can take 6 full months to clear out and I believe it. I learned early, even before the anger would start, that I had to recognize possible situations that would start the beast growling and avoid both the trigger and the cause. Sometimes I would leave the room, turn the channel or pull over and avoid that idiot driver that's beginning to infuriate me! You passed the first test and passed with flying colors. As long as you can stay aware and know that it can and does happen, you'll be fine! Good luck...

thanks to all who have spoken about riba rage  im 20+ days into sofosbuvir / riba 1200mg and fliped out tonite   It came on so fast, I cant belive the way i was shouting. However i soon relized what was going on and relaxed and soon was back to my old self. Thanks to this forum i was able to see what and why it was happening and pulled out of the rage pretty fast   RC
