Thank you both so much.  I am sending the links home and Tom and I will check them out this week.  This site is awesome and I am so grateful to have found it. I will check back when I can.

Hi Tomyboy,

Welcome back! Don't be concerned about your time away. It's time consuming to deal with everyday life and then to compound it with issues like treatment and your own concerns, it leaves little time to spend on the internet. When you can check in and spend time here is good enough for us! We're just glad you're checking in.

I'm happy to hear Tom is doing well and receiving good reports from the doctor. The new treatments just released are excellent and the new offering from Gilead on the horizon is a single pill, once daily dose of Sovaldi and Ledispavir. It's said to be a 8 to 12 week course of tx, with up to 100% SVR rates in study data released. It's as promising as you've been told!

I'm including some links to the information on this new medication. Good luck and give Tom my congratulations on his continued good news!

Hi Laura, good to hear from you again, and no need to apologise, you`re welcome any time!  Wonderful news about Tom`s recent liver scan, you must be so relieved!

The new drug will be the fixed dose all-oral treatment of Sofosbuvir/Ledispasvir, for genotype 1`s.  Gilead filed their application for approval to the FDA last month, and we`re expecting it to become available some time later this year.  The clinical trials have shown some impressive results, and this should be a very effective combo with minimal side effects as it will not require either interferon or ribavirin.  I`m sure Tom`s doctor is right to advise Tom to wait for it.

Here`s some more information about the Sofosbuvir/Ledipasvir treatment...

Sending all best wishes to you both!  smile

Please excuse this lazy writer and I hope I find you all in good health and spirit. It's been a while since I have visited this forum.  Just wanted to update and ask a few questions.  Tom and I recently went for his three month liver CT scan. This was our third check up and the cancer hasn't returned and we are truly grateful. The goal was for him to continue the oral chemo for a year and start the new hep C treatment which was approved in December.  During our recent visit, that has been on hold as his heptalogist reports he said Tom should wait until the fall as even a new, better one pill a day treatment is getting ready to be approved with even less side effects.  He said he wants Tom's quality of life to be better.  Can someone here tell me a little bit about it? Thanking you all in advance, and looking forward to hearing anything you can report to me.  As I know, how well informed the members of this forum are. Again, I apologize for my neglectfulness.
