I have had mood swings as well. Some days I just want to run away from everyone. And lately I've been feeling really achey. One hip and the ankle on the same leg. My feet hurt like heck the second half of the day especially if I've done some walking. I've been feeling like I'm a lot older than my age lately. BUT I won't complain much cuz these meds are giving me a second chance at life and they are way better than interferon & RIBA . Anyone else feel like they have arthritis?

Yes. Duh..pretty bad when i dont know what month it is. I'm on day 10 today. I feel great now. I guess I was just having a bad day when I had the meltdown. Can't blame it on the meds. So I have energy and feel better than I did. The only thing is I got my eyebrows waxed today and I don't know if they burned me or if my skin is more sensitive, but I have red, sore burn spots where the wax was. Hopefully it will go away without scabbing over. So now I know I'm avoiding the sun at all costs. But, yes, I'm excited to be on this treatment!!! Hopeful it will kill the virus finally.

Thanks Tig. I figured it out. My 21 year old son lives with me and his friend in the marines is visiting. So all the friends have been here and it was just an overload on me. I'm used to a nice clean, quiet house and not used to sharing it with 4 or 5 young men. They are all gone now and it will be just the two when they get back. My son recognized what was happening so he gave me a big hug and told me he was taking them home.

I'm not taking ribavirin and I don't think it's the meds, just the circumstances. I didn't resort to the lorazepam but knowing it's available if I need it helps. It's on my list of medications with my dr. and he didn't say anything about not taking it (not sure anyone actually looked at the list) but I know to use sparingly.

I feel much better. The kids are still gone (yes!) but I think it will be ok with just the two. If it isn't better, I'll call the dr. Thanks again.

Hi Audrey,

I'm sorry to hear you're having such issues. I haven't heard of anyone having the degree of irritation you're experiencing on the Sov/Oly combo. By chance are you taking Ribavirin? I think this is something you should contact your doctor about. Until you discuss this with him/her I wouldn't start the Lorazepam. It's a very powerful medication and I'd want to be sure that's the direction your doctor wants to go. Doctors are familiar with the potential side effects from some of these medications and this may be affecting you that way.

I had problems with irritability as well, but on different medications. I had discussed the possibility of these symptoms and side effects with those close and they were aware of the possibility. You are obviously aware of this, since we're discussing it, so sitting them down and explaining this with them may help lessen it's impact. Try to find the things that trigger the outbursts and irritation, then try to avoid them. Have a quiet place you can go to, physically and mentally when things start heating up. That's the best thing you can do, avoid it!

I hope things improve, they often do in time. But you should definitely let your doctor know how this is affecting you. There are things that can be done to address it. We're here to talk, don't forget that! Good luck...

Tig

I'm only on day 5 and so maybe it's not the medicine but I have been very, very irritable  and intolerant. Then after I freak out on people (my son) I cry! I guess because I feel guilty.

I hope it's the medicine! I also hope it goes away soon because it can't be helping with the healing.

i have some Lorazepam. Think that is ok to take when I get really agitated?

I have recently had some dark moods. Wouldn't call it rage just general funk some negative thoughts.

Fortunately I have been able to catch myself and have had to apologize to a few people lately. mostly my wife...

My latest bood work cheered me up and although a have a few symptoms having read the about some of the stuff the 48wk triple therapy crowd have and are going through I almost feel guilty about complaining.

I agree that the feelings can overwhelm us at times and the result is a depression and/or irritability that seizes the day. I don't personally know the inner struggle that Sovaldi or Olysio has on the body, other than what I learn from you. But those of you on INT and Riba, I'm able to understand intimately. I have to believe that Rob hit the nail on the head. The combination of brain fog and the mental/physical control this disease has, can have powerful effects on you. My suggestion is to share how you're feeling with those closest to you. Tell them at a moment when you're not irritated, many times people aren't aware of the grip this disease and the treatment has on you. That's one reason this forum is the safe place that it is, we understand. When people understand what you're feeling and that it's the drugs, and the disease that are responsible, that wall between you dissolves and allows them to help. Give it a try and in a matter of weeks, you'll be past this stage, your mind will be clearer and those letters, UND and SVR, will bring a whole new meaning to your life. Hang in there!

Yes, I have felt sort of depressed at times and I am very irritable. My BS tolerence is 0 and I have no problem at all letting anyone know. I think a lot of it has to do with the extreme exhaustion, but who knows. It does come and go though, so there are a few decent days in the mix!

Hi Jeannie, you and my mother have a very special day in common aww    I wouldn't say I am depressed or more irritable. I certainly am very frustrated with the brain fog and fatigue that accompanies this virus.  Perhaps others sense your frustration?  It is almost as though we are being held captive of this insidious disease, waiting to be set free.   I hope you have the joy of UND, SVR, and the peace that passes all understanding.  Be patient, your time is coming.

I'm on day 11 of tx. The nausea & headaches are better (due to great advice to drink plenty water), however I'm feeling depressed & (was told) I'm irritable. Is anyone else experiencing this?
