I use a Aloe base bubble bath,  but mine is not nearly as bad as yours is,  I think you need to talk to a Dr about it myself .

Hi Taz,

Peppermint's cooling effect comes as a result of the menthol in it. It's well known that peppermint oil can calm some skin irritations, but you have to be cautious if the skin is really raw. If it is, the oil can cause additional stinging. I don't think you need to add anything to an already uncomfortable condition. I read an article that said you might get some of that cooling relief we talked about by adding a few drops of the essential oils to a luke warm bath. Another recommendation I saw was to add a few drops to a room humidifier/steamer and let it reach your skin that way. The topical method I saw mentioned adding a drop or two to your body lotion and apply it to the rash, but as I said, not if your skin is broken or raw.

Taz,

Did I mention using Head and Shoulders shampoo? I bought the "Refresh" brand, it has zinc in it and the active ingredient, pyrithione, kept my scalp under control. Something in it also gives the cooling feeling like menthol does, but it doesn't say anything about that. I also used it as a basic body wash on several occasions. It seemed to really improve my itching. Not always, but often enough that I would try it whenever it got troubling. If you try it, just lather up and let it sit for about 3-5 minutes and rinse with cool water. You should notice a difference right away if it's going to help. Good luck...

taz,

i really feel for you, i know that rash too wellnononono

if i had to do it all over again i 'd go to dermo asap after the otc drugs didn't work.

only rx anhistimines & cream worked. thankfully it pretty much cleared up a month after i stopped the inciveck.

don't freak about the rash in your private areas, just don't wear undergarments!!!!! certain undergarments can make it much worse!!!! i found myself wearing loose cotton dresses, or skirts w/ the men's undershirt. also if i had to go out in public i found a loose bandelo bathing suit top.hope these tips help & watch out for the sun.

yes, my scalp too..i have coritzone, allegra cream, calahist lotion, antiseptic spray. stopped & bought baby shampoo this morn & some baby wash. i take showers as my tub is going to be replaced soon, so i have cut off to it. but i may turn back on & do the oatmeal bath.it sucks becuase it just stings stings stings.  God, i have got to keep fighting. & I will say so far this is the hardest fight of my life.. the incevik was not like this. i was just no energy with that one. this is so brtually different. i need to go mark days off calendar. maybe that will spiffy me up some.. yawn

Mine has been around the whole tx and I'm in the last week. It did move around a bit ..it was horrible on my arms and then that eventually cleared up but my legs have kept a steady rash...it's also on my scalp a bit. It's so itchy and burns. I'm wondering how long it'll take to clear up after I stop taking the meds. It's a nuisance for sure.

Hi Taz, I really feel for you with this rash, it must be making things hard going for you at the moment.  Have you told your doctor how badly it`s affecting you?  If not I certainly would discuss it with him as soon as you can to see what he can prescribe for you.

When my itching and rash was at its worst I didn`t even shower some days, I just used baby wipes which I found were much easier on my skin.  I lived on my own and hardly went out while on tx so it didn`t matter too much!!  wink

Best of luck!  Let us know what you find helpful...

Im sorry, the riba rash really does suck! Ive noticed mine is worse from being in the sun and/or heat. Its not easy to stay away from it since my kids are both on 2 softball teams either. Im going to have to start bringing an umbrella with or something. When it gets real bad, i take benedryl. Good luck, hope that helps and it gives you a break soon!

Hiya Taz

Tig and Mallani oretty much summed it up. I used gold bond cream and did my best not to scratch. If you scratch it won't go away.

Best of luck to you

Hi TazKat,

I think having showers makes things worse. Water and towelling dry all irritate the skin. If cortisone cream doesn't help, you'll need an antihistamine as Tig suggested. Don't scratch, wear loose clothes and don't get hot or cold. Best of luck.

Hi Taz,

I'm so sorry you're continuing to have these problems. I know you've tried just about everything, but here's a link I have in my list of favorites that has some ideas. Maybe there's one you haven't tried. Have you tried Benadryl or Zyrtec? They can help alot. Your doctor can also prescribe some stronger prescriptions that might help.

Mine isn't as severe as yours mostly on my arms and hands but my Dr prescribed cortisone cream and it has mostly cleared up.

I can't imagine how uncomfortable having such a severe rash can be.

Hope you get relief soon.

my skin is totally burning. I don't know what to do.. I am sits end, need to rest. it is just not letting up on the stinging. I have put everything on it & jumped in shower 3 times for relief of cold water.. I have some really red spots that are within my skin. under breast, on breast, little on back & legs. they are a little raised, but the stinging I can't take anymore..  any thoughts? is this going to just get worse or let up some? no
